Has anyone used Rapid Rooter Plugs for Seed Germination?
I've been using these for a while for my clones and they work great. I tried them the first time recently for seed germination. I put down White Widow, then put the cubes in a tray with a 3 inch dome, sitting on top of a heating mat. After a week nothing, then after two weeks, I dug them out and they were rotting. The instruction with the plugs said to keep them in a 1/4 inch of water while germinating. I followed the instructions and that's what happened.

Anyone had any success germinating with these?

I have not used those. But I do use rockwool cubes. You want to keep what ever your using moist. But not soaking in water. That is why they rotted. With a heating pad and doom and cover, 2 to 4 days they will pop.Could be longer but 2 to 4 days 90% of the time. with a heating pad just check on them alot.So they do not dry out.If you soak those in ph'd water then squeeze some water out, you should be good to go. Can you squeeze water out of them if you soak them?
Like I said I do not know about rapid rooters, but moist is the key to all germination of seeds. Just use a spray bottle and spray them.

noob here.

I've had similar problems, but with rockwool. I read somewhere that you shouldn't *squeeze* the cube, rather shake out the excess liquid. Squeezing compresses the pores of the rockwool, inhibiting its draining/oxygenation properties. I'm sure, though, this is a maximum potential/ideal since those who squeeze are successful too.

I guess nothing is hard & fast...except maybe photoperiod and pollination.

I use the Rapid Rooters alot, with success. This is what I do:
- Put the seeds in a cup of water until they crack and the taproot sticks out alittle. This take about 2 days for me.
- When time has come. I take the Rapid Rooters and make the holes alittle bit bigger and alittle bit deeper. (use tweezers or the eraser end of a pencil)
- Then I put the seeds in the R.R. about 1/4" down and cover the holes with some excess soil from the R.R.
- Spray the R.R. with water, but do not make it soggy or drip. Just need it moist.
- I put them in a small tupperware container and cover it. Check on them everyday, and keep them moist by spraying them.
- I drain out the excess water in the container, I have never done what the instructions say to do. lol
- Make sure the temp's aren't to high
- They should sprout in 3 days or so

Not saying this will work for you, but it has for me. Hope this helps.
