Sounds like you've got the addiction big time. If you can just stop smoking, you will get your life back. No addiction is easy to break, but cannabis addiction is the easiest one to break so hang in there, and I wish you good luck in dealing with this. There are marijuana annonymous meetings online you can check out, and there you will find lots of support. Good luck! [/ Quote:

I have been smoking pot since I was 12. I am now 21, and am ready to quit. When I first started smoking pot, I felt it helped me to open up. I was able to make friends easier, and I felt like part of a group. Now, I can't even go outside after smoking a joint I feel so paranoid. I smoke all the time. Spending over $600 a month on the stuff. I no longer enjoy the feeling of being high. I am at the point, where I just don't know where to turn. I want to say I am trying, but I'm not. I don't know how to try, because I don't know any different. For example, I came home from work today, and decided to cook dinner first, rather than smoking a joint. I have been making the same meal every monday night for the past 4 years, and when I started cooking it, I forgot the ingrediants, I didn't know how long to keep the chicken in for, or anything. I was so confused. I don't know how to live without smoking pot. I know it sounds stupid, but it's true. I need some advice, anything. I have made some drastic changes in my life, hoping to succeed. I moved to a new city, where I didn't know anyone. Thinking, if I don't know where to buy it, I won't be able to smoke it. Was I wrong. First person I met, my next door neighbour, a dealer. There goes that plan. I have cut myself off from my friends --- but that just left me smoking even more weed, and by myself. I'll sit at home and smoke 1/2 an ounce by myself in one sitting if I have the day off work. Somebody please... any advice you can give will be appreciated... I'm probably putting this on the wrong website, but hey... it's worth a try right? I'm desperate.

Have you ever thought you might be getting a melatonin deficiency? When you toke your melatonin output in your body goes to 4000%. This is responsible for giving you an appetite and giving your body lots of the happy drug seratonin (melatonin breaks down into seratonin). If you toke all day you can actually deplete your body's melatonin levels and youll start feeling depressed, restless, and anxious. You can buy melatonin supplements pretty cheap at the grocery.
Dunno if thats your problem or you just got a mood/anxiety disorder of some kind. Im bipolar and i smoke constantly to keep the depression away. Sometimes it doesnt do the trick and I wonder if its just low melatonin levels backing up the depression. I dont think ive ever killed a half oz in one setting by myself before though,.. sounds like if anyone has low melatonin levels it would be you
If I were you id quit for a couple months then light up again and see if you get the same 'blah' mood again where the weed just isnt cutting it. Get your melatonin reserves filled back up and enjoy that bud!
Heres a link on melatonin and weed:

Don't take everything printed here as 'fact' - but I honestly do think it's the most balanced comments on cannabis 'addiction', if it's become a problem. Particularly given this is from a zero tolerance country. http://www.droginfo.com/pages/haschguiden/Engelsk%20Guide%20att%20sluta.htmPersonally I'm of the opinion that cannabis is so harmless (both physically and psycologically) that you can build up a habitual pattern to using...and with some slight 'withdrawal' symtoms it can be hard to convince yourself to stop - at least for a while. Anyway just found this site very straightforward - even if the language is a bit on the prohibitionist side. Given that it discusses these sensations of withdrawal at least some-one trying doesn't have to think it's just them - we all experience mild withdrawals! Personally when I have cannabis I smoke without worry - and when I travel on business, sometimes for a few weeks at a time I manage fine without, although it's hard when you smell it on the street ;-) Anyone think this website is complete rubbish? Sincerely, tb.

Hi mate, I,m a pot addict myself and felt a lot of empathy when I read your post. Listen! when you first stop smoking You'll feel confused, Angry, have memory problems, deppression and all sorts for a while but like everything else it will pass. Personally I attend AA, Narcotics annonymous and Cocain annonymous and my biggest problem for a lot of years has been cannabis. I live in Scotland (GB) and we haven't yet started up Marijuanna anonymous but should be here soon where'as I hear that there are MA meetings in the US so why not try any or all of these meetings out and decide for yourself if they can help. All of the people that attend these meetings are addicted like yourself so you wont be long in Identifying and making new friends with people who understand. It's amazing how soon deppression falls away and hope and enthusiasm for life return. Hope you get this reply as it's a few day's old. Cheers, Davie.

I reckon it's easier for someone who's hooked on Alchohol or drugs (whatever the drug or food it is) to understand the utter despair that real addiction brings. There's no miracle cure out there and we are all individual people in all kinds of mental states so whats good for one man could be poison to you so take a lot of the info you have read here with caution. Addiction to cannabis took everything dear to me away from me. No that's not actually true. I pushed it all out of my life because the addiction wore me down Physically, mentally and spiritually. The cannabis caused all these problems subtally over time. When I decided to go to meetings I was first bombarded with a lot of information from lots of well meant people but at the time my esteem was so low that I took too much different kinds of inf on board and tried to work it into my life and ended up with a busted head. Now I have more self confidence I can take on board what feels right to me and bin the rest. It may take a while my friend to get back on your feet but its worth the effort. Learn to open your mind and you'll soon meet people who talk your language.
