me and two buds are coming up to vancouver in july...staying in kistsilano. i've been to vancouver a couple times, but it's been a while. i was wondering who could give me some easy info on the public transportation; i've looked at theit site, but maybe you can explain it better. we basically just need to know how to get from .............. kitsilano to granville island..

lotsa good advice here.

re kits to Gran Isl - the best inner city walk in the country, bar none imo, from anywhere in kits go down the hill toward the water , follow the path around kits point , goes strait to entrance to gran island. stunning scenery on a sunny day - it's whatt van is all about. 15 min or so.

and the hemp store on the Drive -- i believe it's 'grassroots' - around 1500blk comm.

Goa,Holland,Kashmir,Nepal,Thailand,Jamaica,Etc,etc, are all mecca's for pot,but vansterdam is still one i haven't got to yet.
I can't wait to get over there and have a party.
Tip:there is no social unrest(not much anyhow),war, tsunami's,or extreme poverty in BC, so i'd go for the second hand mecca's of europe and north america anyday!

- walk three blocks east of the BCMP headquarters and you'll find yourself in the poorest neighbourhood in canada

i love BC but the government could do a LOT more to deal with poverty

This is soooooo cool. We're between the gay people and the nudists at Wreck Beach in the "alternative" section of "BCPassport" online tourism service:

http://www.bcpassport.com/cool.html#smoke

Vancouver Marijuana Culture

Vancouver has a thriving Marijuana culture that includes the political, medicinal, agricultural, and cultural aspects of the plant. While smoking marijuana is not legal in Vancouver, it is not a crime the police spend a lot of time cracking down on or punishing.

Currently there are several local shops that provide information and equipment for people interested in the subject of marijuana. The best place to hang out if you're interested in more information and exposure to the local culture is the 300 block of West Hastings.
