I use Pythoff from Flairform and I just got
DNA Hydro Sparkle (have not used yet) to keep the brown slime fungus off
the roots.

I'm building a recirculating DWC that does
not require air stones or air pumps.

I'll post plans , if it works ok.

My buddy built a 30 plant recirculating system with a chiller. Keeping the water temps down to 67f he doesn't have to use peroxide so he's using beneficials in the rez. The plants love it. Recirculating DWC is pretty fucking dope if you ask me. Dude put 15 grand into this whole room, for everything start to finish, with 8kw, it's a dope set up. Legal of course. He put an airstone in each bucket anyways. Good luck with your project man.

Love DWC really easy to maintain with small setups and yields can be fantastic I tend to use flood and drain for larger grows but it rules for small cuboard type setups

I'd just get some 35% peroxide and save a lot of dough over that BS root saving stuff. I use it all the time and have never had a root problem for ten years in DWC.

Once you see that slime it's getting close to the end for your plants. Reduce temps with ice if you have to, lots of H2O2 or flashy expensive root curing stuff.

Chopping off the roots works well too. Reduces the amount of physillium present in the root zone and promotes new growth.

I'd like to see the recirculating set-up if you got it going.

peace

I went back to dirt......

My design works with the fractionating pump with venturi
at the intake before the impeller from Danner.

If you don't restrict the outflow from the pump
you get a stream of fine bubbles at the output.

I demonstrated 6 feed lines off the Mag3 with fine bubbles out each line.

The feed lines go to the bucket ; which must have
a good size outlet line (so you don't over flow your bucket)

and return to rez & mag pump...

since you can't restrict the Danner output much at all or you'll loose the bubbles......

EDIT: So the feed line with the bubbly nutrient enters the bucket from the bottom swirling the roots with bubbly nutrient & flowing upward to the exit drains.

Should work real well. I may build.

This is a my trade design I'm giving up here;
use it well, please.

No air pumps or stones; just the Danner Fractionating pump & it's quiet and can feed many buckets.

Wow!!! I've been thinking of growing for a long while and after reading all 24 pages of this thread, I'm going to go forward with this process thanks to arcin and also Earl. I Have no growing experience but after reading this and my basic construction skills I plan to sey up a little grow to see how it works out. My whole thing from what I've been reading is what type of light is best. From what I've read Arcin uses 2 400w lights yet some people swear by 1000w. Can anyone give me any advice.

Notice, the smaller pump on the left has a single air outlet. The larger one has two.
I recently priced a larger pump at the hydro shop, much higher output capacity, 6 outlets, $400.00. Not necessary.

Yeah, looks great! It would take so many LEDs to get it to work, and a bunch of cash. I think that you would be better off with offering the enough lighting.

funny how things always come back to KISS, I have built and employed almost every type of hydro system that you can think of and even some you have not, and yet I am now doing DWC. Why??? Because although other type systems can be fun and may even produce a bit more faster, they all have their downfalls and cost $$$$. DWC is simple, cheap, effectived and pretty much dummy proofed.

DWC has a lot of good features but it has drawbacks as well. One thing I found is getting to the back buckets to check ph, ec, air stones and root condition.

Moving the ones in front to get to the back.

Moving around 4 gallons of nutrients (32 lbs)per bucket,
plus plant weight,
can be difficult.

I suggest connecting the buckets and make it recirculating so you only have to monitor one location.

The growth in DWC is fine and nothing between the root and it's nutrient. That's real exciting to me cause the root has no competition with any media for it's nutrients.

I just use rubermaid totes with multiple plants thus getting around all themove the buckets thing.
