Hi everyone. My name's Gregg and I'm 21 years old and have never tried pot. The reason is because none of my friends have ever smoked it either. I want to try it especially because I have terrible generalized anxiety. I've been living my entire life with it and I never knew it. I'm finally getting treated for it but I still feel I need something else to calm me down in those situations where I tend to panic. Around new people I feel tremendously uncomfortable and panicy. I"m starting to feel better but I'm not all the way there yet. I want to grow it myself but I don't have any idea where to start. Any opinions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Heya gregg1, how goes the battle? You'll like this place, although there are far too many humans on these forums Indicas work great for anxiety and such. Blueberry and Hashplant are anxiety killers. ahhh yes.

I think you had better get used to being high before venturing out in public. , I would suggest using Cannabis for general treatment of anxiety and your prescription drugs only when needed, the reverse of what you are contemplating
Cannabis can produce some fairly strong feelings of paranoia, for the inexperienced. Try it at home, see what you think. Turn on the tunes, get high, see what happens for you. You will have no idea of what dosage will be comfortable for you. Seriously, have some good snacks on hand, munchies are part of the whole thing. If you are not used to smoking, go gently, you don't want to cough out a lung just yet, perhaps you could get yourself a water pipe. Find someone you can trust to smoke with for the first time. Where are you going to score it anyway? Make sure it is good and clean, you can't judge that as an first-timer.
I wish you well, I think Cannabis can help you, once you get used to it.

Hey Gregg, slow down sailor! Cannabis can be an excellent influence on your state of anxiety but slow down. If I read you right, you are newly diagnosed and early in your treatment?
Get to a place where you are stable, certain you know what to expect from your condition and from your meds.
You need to read ALOT about how the medications you are currently on work within your body. You will have to know how cannabis works in your body and sort out if you could have a bad mix.
Then and only then, follow Squilly's advice to the letter! Especially about the trusted user and knowing what you are getting. Time changes the effects slightly, trust in Squilly.
Growing your own gives you time to read and get ready and then allows you to control your product.
Cannabis could be great if you read and go slow. You've waited a long time to get some help. You deserve to make sure you go steadily forward.
Cautious as always.

Hey squilly,
Writing your own treatment plans now? You are adventurous!
While I love your advice, (sage and thoughtful as always) I wonder if you considered whether poor old Gregg is learned enough to self medicate yet? Is a total reversal of his, what sounds like a very new, diagnosis and treatment plan wise?
