Check it out on pot-tv, me and my brother both had a good laugh watching this show, its on the front page of the pot-tv site. What do other people think of this show?

It was pretty bad. I give them credit for making a show at all, but they need to have a point, and learn to smoke without coughing so much. Half the show was them coughing. The other half was some talk about what their show was gona be, and then some skate boarding. The best part was the skate-boarding.

The ammount of new shows on pot-tv lately has been pretty dismal. Is it because it's summer and people aren't making shows? It's sad, but for what I'm paying I can't complain.

I'm with Long Hair on this.

La Sparka is totally without a point.

If I want to watch stoners sit around I'll watch Tommy Morgan. At least there they get into some creative pipe making and toking activities. Tommy and friends may just be stereotypical stoners, but they have something going on; they have a point.

La Sparka looks like it's trying to capitalize on the same stereotype that Tommy IS naturally, but it falls way short. It makes me think of drop-out glue sniffers. No class. If High Times had video online, La Sparka would be perfect for it.

I don't know why I'm reacting so strongly, but it strikes me as a serious waste of bandwidth. Way below Pot-TV's normal quality.

I am not against pointless entertainment but I am against unedited video.

Shooting video is great fun but editing is hard work and good editing is really really hard work.

You gotta have the relaxed unrestrained fun person with the camera, but you also need the driven uptight anally retentive person with the editing software.

The upright person doing the editing should be completely dedicated to picking out what brings the viewer into the action and absolutely merciless in leaving out anything that leaves the viewer standing by the sidelines waiting for something to happen.

Editing is hard grinding work. When I edit video I warn everyone in my house that I'm not going to be nice that day and nobody should come in my office or they'll leave with a bite taken out of their ass.

I would encourage these La Sparka guys to learn some video editing, get tough and critical about their own work, and then try to produce some entertaining stuff under those constraints.

Given the cost of streaming video storage space and bandwidth, I think it is really wrong not to edit out stuff like fumbling for the lighter and loading up the bong. They can cut several minutes out to begin with just by slicing out those scenes.

Every second of video is expensive in terms of storage space, streaming cost and viewer attentiveness.

You just have to be a merciless bastard when you edit. Don't make people stand around waiting for the interesting parts. Cut, cut, cut and cut some more until what's left cannot be cut any more.

Why have a boring 15 minute video when you can have a really great five minute video?

But guess what -- it takes a hell of a lot more work to produce a five minute video than a 15 minute video, if the 15 minutes are achieved merely by a lack of editing.

I think you hit the nail on the head Viperella.

"Why have a boring 15 minute video when you can have a really great five minute video?"

I had a public access cable show in a major west-coast city for two years and I agree 100%. Editing is hard work and there is sure a reason why the cutting room floor is so littered with footage.

Thank you for your contributions to Pot-TV.

Peace!

The point of good editing is to make it look even more fun.

Time in video is like rope that you can use to hang yourself. I mean, a shorter message can have a greater impact.

Well.... I will say La Sparka has caused a load of controversy. La Sparka actually took some time to edit it, and the coughing and fumbling and the rest of it was all intentional. I figured 12 minutes (the rest is commercials) was short enough already, and althoug the flaws were apparent, I decided since it was a first time show I would throw it out there and see what kind of reaction it recieved. Usually it takes a host a few shows and a little feedback to get out a superior product, and since we haven't gotten much viewer submissions as of late, I was glad to give La Sparka a shot.
Now if some of you critics out there want to give video a production a shot, we will see how ya all do. Unfortunately usually the biggest critics are the least likely to do ANYTHING.

It had a point, it was FUNNY, some people need to lighten up a bit, just because it doesn't deal with deep social and political issues, doesn't mean it is without value, it made me laugh and that is what a good show does.

La sparka is funny, and I look forward to his next shows.
