Hello Breederbrad That looks like an excellent idea for my situation, but I have 1 question. Can I use 5gal. pails with the bottoms cut out and buried and filled with my own soilmix instead of pigwire in plastic? Thanx canadiancowboy

all right ill try and answer everybodies questions Daggapeople-you should use 5 to 10 pounds of lime,as most swamps are very acidic, and will have nutrient lockout,it also depends on the mix you use. Eddyadak-it's called hog wire, you should'nt have to use rebar, stick the wire about 6to 7 inches in the swamp 814-you should re read the post, because it's all there dude, picture a 2.5ft high,2.5ft diameter planter Canaidiancowboy-i suppose you could use 5gallon buckets, but ur not supposed to bury the buckets, they sit on top of the water,i have a friend that used a garbage can,but i would'nt want to haul 12 garbage cans out into the swamp Greens-you can spraypaint the wire black or green or whatever,i would'nt use mounds because they would just erode away, never doen mounds with weed, but i have with tomatos, and the mounds just eroded,i had to keep putting more dirt.,hope this helps,it's really not that hard, just gotta put some effort in it.and the yeilds more then make up for you're hard work,so get the bugmasks on and get out there as soon as you can! PEACE

They go out to a swampy area, chop the vegetation off the top of the soil, then they chop it up a little.
make a circle(tube, hoop)about 2,2.5feet in diameter, and stick it 6 inches down into the swamp.
go around the perimeter like 1.5 to 2 times, heavy duty black polyethelene
-2/3 of a 3.8 cubic foot bale of peat moss
-your soil( organic, 5 to 10 pounds of dolimitc lime )
you should end up with a 2.5foot diameter X2.5 foot high planter full of nutrient soil.
-keep the plant upright. -the only hard part is lugging 3.8cubic ft bags of sunshine#4 in. -the area can have a little bit of water standing.
don't hurt urself people!
