Canadian tire had em at 2.50 at the end of the season, picked up a bunch

thinking of doing the swamp tube thing next year. usually grow on high dry land. just curious as to how many times one would put the ferts to them in the veg stage? bi weekly?

one quick question: would charcoal or ash work to bring down the p.h instead of lime ....what is the ideal ph for this type of opperation

my plan is to use rubbermade totes
cut the bottom out a couple inches from the sides then use wire fencing/mesh to ensure that my soil mixture dosnt get eroded
for a soil mixture i plan on useing:
peat moss(found growing in the swamp i am using)
kelp
rabbit manure
topsoil
and charcoal/ash
or lime

I liked the idea, I had been thinking of the same stuff cardboard tubes. My swamp tubes are doing okay so far.

A lot of you are saying swampy marshes should be acidic(but how acidic is water and medium approx?). So would starting clones in rockwool/hydroton@5.5-6.5PH need to be adjusted/raised when transplanting to swampy moss/water or would they be fine?(dont have soil ph tester to know what the medium PH is for sure) that's why I'm asking, if anyone has a helping response it would be appreciated.

Dolomite takes time to work...wonder has anyone tried Hydrated Lime mixed with water.
its powerful stuff commonlu used to clean the shit outta outhoused...literally.
I tried it on black dirt in holes and found it worked ok if you start weak and keep checking the PH of the soil until its 6.5 to 7

Hydrated lime works great to get the pH up initially (it'll take it WAY up though - be careful). Dolomite is the answer for keeping it buffered for the duration of the grow.

Swamp Tubes work really well.

i've had hydrated lime in my eyes before and have breathed it in lots....not good stuff to have around in my opinion.
