Thanks for this idea. I am modifying it to work at an exhaust odor nuetralizer. I am basically mounting a bathroom fan on top of the bucket and ducting the deodorized air out the window. the bathroom fan of course has it's own exhaust duct port. I am wondering if the holes should be just above the surface of the ONAed soil moist. The designs look like the holes are right near the fan. It seems the air needs to mix with the evaporating ONA if the holes were lower their would simply be more mixing... When the soilmoist starts to dry should I just add water or more ONA. Or more ONA every other rewet?.. Anyone else use this for exhaust?
Once again thank you very much for all the info. Call me a dork but I have read this whole thread twice

I hear you there.

I read this thread a while back and put the odour machine on my list of things to do. As i am lazy im paying for not doing this sooner. In about 5 hours time the tV repair man is coming arournd. consequently i have had to pull my grow rig apart (1 hours work) move the plants and 'lings (10 minutes work) , hoover where the plants where and the few litres of soil which where laying about (20 minutes work) and now i am having to re-paint the lounge to make the grass fumes fuck off. real heavy.

so my next project is going to be this device.

i should have done this earlier

what I am wondering is has anyone found a place to buy the ONA that isn't so expensive from the sites I've looked at its around $25.00 US for just 1 liter of this stuff. and for 20 liters is about $150.00 for it. So if anyone has found it cheaper could you please post a link of where you found it. I can't find ONA locally and will pay the price that I've found if I have to but if someone out there has found it cheaper letting me know would be extremely helpful.

p.s.- I know I shouldn't be such a penny pincher heh but what can you do eh.

p.p.s.- the pricing is for it in liquid concentrate.

what is the best way to fresh'n up the ONA machine?
1) just add a little water?
2) add some more ONA agent?
3) add some more soil moist?
4) change it completely out after a week or so?

I'm just asking because I'm using a few of them but after a 5-7 days or so they lose most if not all of their power and it's getting expensive to change them out with the cost of ONA and Soil Moist! Is their a cheaper re-fresh way that will make them last a bit longer?

I have found the best way to refresh the system is by adding a little water first. I mix some in and put the fan back on, then wait a few minutes to see if I smell plant or fresh linen. If it is still smelling like herb then I add a little more ona. It is not necessary to change out the soilmoist crystals. You can use them all the way through to the end of the grow. Just add more water/ona to your system when you think it needs it. I only made my system about 3 months ago so I'm not sure exactly how long you could use the soilmoist crystals before they would need to be changed out. I'd imagine changing them out at the end of each grow would be the most beneficial.
