Barry, 2-3 plants per lamp is still a lot of juice you're paying for. Work out the cost per month so see if you really need more than a single 1K bulb for a couple of plants.

I suppose what I'm trying to say is many growers produce good ganja with one or two 1000watters: would you get that much of an increase in quality/quantity by multiplying the lights by 2 or 3?

I'm suprised nobody has suggested using 600w lights yet. I don't think I'd go back to 1k watts after my own comparrisons of 600super hps bulbs vs 1000s.

Just a thought.

Perhaps 600K lamps were not mentioned as he already owns a slew of 1000s .. ? While it's generally known 600s are the most efficient bulb out there (when talking lumens per dollar), having to purchase new lights to save money is a bit counter-intuitive, at least to me.

barry: Hydro here...ebb/flow...Rockwool. I guess it comes down to how much you would like to produce? Being legal one doesn't have to worry about BIG power bills getting you busted, just having enough money to pay for that power.

With an 8 plant count in your flower room under your thousands should produce 12-16 zips a week if you run them perpetual, more than enough to cover your power bill and MUCH more.

Once you reach a point with lighting quantity becomes dictated by sq/ft. and strain also.

It comes down to what you are looking to do with it all? Running one plant per light will without a doubt bring you the best yeild possible if all other requirements are met.

Just to give you an idea, I run 12 600 watters, 2 400 watters and 2 250 watts of t-5's. With all my other equipment I am around a grand a month. For that grand I produce anywhere from 6-8 lbs.

I Even have enough leftover for my composter

And just how does one Patient unload that much weed legally???

Growing those huge amounts was fine until last years here in Cali..

Now I know many growers with no way to unload that fine Product..

A grower in a Collective used to get a Payday every so often...

The focus here is to not grow large but grow the finest quality buds..

Even those Patients I help are getting very picky when it comes to the Buds..
If you are not growing quality???
You are alone with all your stash..

So those lamps are important...
But there is so much more to growing medical grade Cannabis than just lamps...

You can have the finest lamp setup and not grow good weed or get any yield worth that grow..

Lamps are important but not alone....

I say focus on quality first and utmost..
All the rest will fall into place as needed...

(15 plants) i got bout 200 sq/ft., 1000cfm of exhaust if i need, and being in the north there if NO shortage of COLD fresh air in winter. i still can hold a decent job, so paying bills ain't a problem......

Those 6-1000 watters will produce well for sure. If you are wanting all you can get than with your plant count the best way is to keep a perpetual cycle going,IMO, that is why I recommended all 8 lights. With 8 lights you would be able to pull a pound a week and after 8 weeks your cycle begins again. A never ending cycle and with only 8 in flower you can now set up your vegging room with the rest of your count and stay legal.

As Tim said quality is an important thing for sure but if you can get your hands on a good strain it makes thing much easier. With the nutrients out there today if you can read and have a high lumen output quality will always be there, its the quantity that is harder to rain in.
