Some use the "add back" as a rule of thumb. Say your rez is 20 gallons. So you nue it up and add back RO. Whe the water add back=20 gallons dump and renute. I don't dump at all. I mis nutes in another rez and just keep adding, unless the palnts tell me somethig different.

Lol. I usually post stoned and half asleep, at absurd hours of the night.

I used to be very consistent about what I added back, I'd always calculate it out. Now I just watch the plants and take educated guesses. To get the best result from my dwc tubs, I usually have to change the nutes at least once during flowering.

It gets sort of obvious when they need it because the leaves will start to get lighter and just won't look as good, even as the tds creeps up. I notice this in my veg units if I get lazy about changing the solution too, the plants will want a higher and higher tds until they just end up showing defifiencies and burn. Say I'm at 900+ ppm with month old topped off nutes, I swap it out with new nutes at 700ppm, the leaves will usually actually darken.

it seems like my soil grows the ppm i run are much weaker then in hydro for some reason ..i was testing my nute tea and its at about 350 to about 450 [all organic]..i no i have been running some pretty weak because i was having trouble dialing in some of these cross's i have made ..they look like they are losing a lot of nitrogen in about the 3rd week of budding ..i mean the whole plants are yellowing ..i have started to add casting to my tea in bloom ...it helps some but a nice green never comes back the way .if i run the ppm any higher they show burn.i thought i had some kind of mold or disease happening but its only with a couple of the strains i am running ..the others stay nice and healthy looking in color ..i no i may not continue to run this strain and put it up for awhile ..cant have any genetics that are faulty..the aero set up is going to let me find my new nitch in this i hope ..i always did pretty well in dwc it was just a ton of work for me and was turning into more of a job then a enjoyable thing ..

weedmen, once you have vegged in aero, you will never go back to soil. lol.... Growth rates during veg in aero are phenomenal, it's like injecting steroids, casuses them to bulk massively.

As far as work goes, if you think dwc is a lot of work, get ready for even more with aero as you will have to really be on top of everything. Not trying to scare you off, just give you real info, these guys that get on here and say stupid shit like aero units are easier to keep clean or maintain are fools that never ran one. Yeah I said it, and dont care if they don't like it, but it is true. Aero is a lot of work don't fool yourself on that one, but it is also the fastest and best way I have ever employed of growing marijuana. Just know the dangers such as if you fuck up you don't just lose one plant but rather all of them, therefore make small moves, nothing radical and find a happy medium where all your plants are relitively happy as you cannot dial it in specifically for each plant like you can in dwc.

Well, I dunno. Not tryin to start an argument by any means Dawg. I totally agree with the part about cleaning. When I finish choppin' I know I'm in for a good day and a half of tear down clean up and reset. But as for the grow part I think it's fairly easy. Now I am a lazy old fuck. So in the last 3 years I have rigged up my set up to the point where I never carry water or nutes anywhere. Once I get into flower I add nutes to the tank and like Harvey I may change out once during the flower period. Now I'm riggin up a 55 gallon drum for each rez with a float valve that will gravity feed the rez. Now if I could afford an automatic ph'er... Maybe I'll do a lil thread on how I have my water room set up or just an all around set up.

I totally don't agree with the part about cleaning, just to throw that out there. hahaha. All I ever did was vacuum my end reservoirs with a shop vac, swap my pump's output filter, and swap the new solution in. That's it. No cleaning anything, no wiping anything down, no cleaning nozzles, no bleach, no h2o2, nothing.

I don't clean my dwc tubs at all either, just renute and go.

How long did you run NFT?? Bad advice if your gonna stick with it.. Clogged sprayers=dead plants. Dead plants=poor yield. Poor yield=no smoke. For the day I spend between grows I like the peace of mind. I have been growin in these machines for 3 years now. Tried YOUR method and nothin' but trouble. Close to 2 yrs now and rarely a clogged sprayer.
