Hi all,I'm new to these forums and have just 1 question for now.
I have suffered life-long depression and recently(last 5-6 years)Increased anxiety.I have been on numerous medications and have only felt normal after using marijuana. My current Dr is all for trying more pills and I'm DONE with that so I come to you hat in hand asking if anyone can steer me towards a Dr. in the vernon area who isn't against medical marijuana.I've tried the Educate your Dr. route and it's falling on deaf ears,He states that it will cause me to lose motivation(lol)My life on pills is O motivation my life with Pot is not..I can't make him see it so I need an alternative..I'm at the end of my rope and have been feeling more and more like it's hopeless..A little help please. P.S. I am on disability and have very limited funds..

Sorry - I don't have any advice on finding a doctor (I'm going the online clinic route myself). I was just curious though - were you able to get your doctor to understand the different kinds of effects that sativas vs indicas have?

If you can get enough funds together and decide to go the online clinic route, you should be aware that not all of them will sign the forms for treatment of depression (something I read on these forums I think, while doing my research). Make sure you find out before you pay anything.

WTF
Well I got my answer from my Dr.and I quote:I don't prescribe to the idea that it's a medicine.
But on the bright side I got him to refer me to a Psychiatrist.I just hope he/she will be more open.

That's good news at least - you need to see a specialist before the online clinics will sign you forms at any rate - they need to document on the MMAR forms that a specialist has been consulted.

It's possible you'll get a specialist that's willing to sign them for you - which would be great and save you the money. However if they won't sign, your visit to them can still progress you further along your road to legality.

This is what I was told by the clinic I've been in communication with:
"You need to see a specialist. The specialist has to diagnose you. The specialist does not need to agree with the usage of medical marijuana, nor do they have to provide any special documentation in regards to it."

As I haven't yet been able to see my specialist, I don't know how the clinic will proceed with the next step. I assume the clinic will contact the specialist after my visit, to confirm the diagnosis. I'm sure there's people around here who can detail exactly how that part works laugh

Good luck!

"Dr.and I quote:I don't prescribe to the idea that it's a medicine"

Depending on the relationship you wish to maintain with your doctor, that sort of thing should be reported to the College---not for today, perhaps, but one day the War will end and people who made statements like this, especially if they are invested in pharmaceutical companies (doctors aren't checked for unethical investments/prescribing drugs they're invested in), may have to be drawn to account for their statements.

Your doctor is very clearly unable to practice medicine and is falling behind in professional development.

I hear you there.
I hope he can educate himself as it is a real eye-opener if your willing to look at it.
I say if because most of the Dr's I have run into are like-minded here in my town.
I hope the specialist is more open-minded and if not I go the online route.
Make no mistake I know It works so I refuse to give in,I appreciate any and all input.

Try the online way. I tried for 10 years in Saskatchewan without luck.
I got my license on the first try online. You must give the clinIc
Permission to access your med records. I got my mmar
Less than 2 months after i applied.

I tried with over 8 maybe 10 lousey doctors here in Van BC and they all said the same thing ."I don't care if you smoke cannabis I just won't help sign the paperwork for you to get it even if you quailify" I called the doc in Kelona and got it done in a few weeks. This was after years of fighting with Gov and health Canada which BTW was as useless as they could be.. All the so-called "Compassion Clubs" were anything but.. I got NO HELP from any club at all !!! that I won't forget either.. headband 707
