Current Actions The State Department is preparing to re-open its review of the environmental impacts of the Keystone XL tar sands oil pipeline leg that would run from Canada to Nebraska. The public has a chance to submit comments on the scope of this review through July 30.
STOP THE KEYSTONE XL, AGAIN! Breaking news: An hour ago, news reports confirmed that Canadian oil giant TransCanada began receiving sign off from the Army Corps of Engineers on the only federal permit it needs to break ground on the southern leg of the Keystone XL tar sands oil pipeline. continued

We’ve always suspected that the Army Corps, an agency with an abysmal environmental track record, would rubber-stamp the Keystone XL southern segment. But the extent and nature of the stonewalling and secrecy displayed by the agency during this review would shock even a seasoned D.C. insider. It’s taken grassroots outrage and media scrutiny to pry from the Army Corps even basic details about the process.
NTSB: Neglect, inaction caused Michigan oil spill The Canadian operator of an oil pipeline that ruptured in southwestern Michigan two years ago, causing the most expensive onshore spill in U.S. history, failed to deal adequately with structural problems detected years ago and to respond appropriately to the catastrophe, the National Transportation Safety Board said Tuesday.
Is Salt Lake oil spill cleanup done? Maybe, says state Two leaks from a Chevron pipeline spilled 54600 gallons of crude oil near Red Butte Garden in Salt Lake City's eastern foothills in 2010.
The Largest Oil Spills in History, 1901 to Present This map shows the largest oil spills in history (1901 to Present), from tanker accidents and drilling operations, as well as a number of other notable spills. An oil spill is a release of a liquid petroleum hydrocarbon into the environment due to human activity, and is a form of pollution.
More troubles at the San Onofre nuclear plant in California Earlier this year – the entire plant was shut down after there was a radiation leak and investigators found severely eroded tubes that carry radioactive water. But now a report published by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission reveals that the problem as San Onofre was even worse than first realized.
The new data shows that more than 3,000 new steam generator tubes at the plant are also badly damaged. Plant operators had hoped to get the reactors up and running again at the end of summer – meaning they were planning to operate the plant with seriously damaged components – Increasingly the likelihood of a nuclear accident.
The real troubling question is – if this much dysfunction is just below the surface at the San Onofre nuclear plant – then what other nuclear plants in the United States are in similar dangerous conditions?
Hemp 'Eats' Chernobyl Waste, Offers Hope For Hanford An explosion at a nuclear reactor on April 26th, 1986 in Chernobyl, Ukraine created the world's worst nuclear disaster - so far. The blast heavily contaminated agricultural lands in a 30 km radius around the reactor. The few people still living there must monitor their food and water for radiation. However the combination of a new technology (phytoremediation) and an old crop (industrial hemp) may offer the Ukraine a way to decontaminate it's radioactive soil.
The global warming heat wave that’s been scorching the nation could lead to a food crisis Corn production has slowed under the withering heat, with only 48% of crops nationally considered to be in good or excellent conditions – that’s a drop from 56% a week before the record-breaking heat wave.
Half of the corn crops in Indiana were deemed to be in poor shape, and only 26% of the corn crops in Illinois were considered to be in good condition.
This food shortage is pushing international grain prices back up to levels not seen since the 2008 global food crisis, when more than 250 million more people on the planet flirted with starvation. Climate Change chaos around the globe is just beginning.
Quick ACTIONS you can take to help protect wildlife, marine life and wilderness!
"They" neocons, want to employ americans with this new pipedream from Canada? They gut the country outsourcing tinkledown and now they want to create jobs that will cost us more in the longrun than temp employment and 20 years of leaking valves, pumps and fittings. Oh do I feel a rant coming on...
Such gerbal wimps and traitors not willing to get cancer so Wall St can profit selling treatments! Such ingrates. Thanks to the moneysluts selling out babies health for profits. Gutting their schools for profits. Trashing the streams for profit. They make us sick, for profit and their trolls stand at attention praising these fossil fool gods. Seems GOPers love anything that kills nature. They seem to hate healthy Americans since they don't buy synthetic drugs to treat the numerous neurological illness running rampet. Florida GOPers proud to reinstate Tuberculosis, geterdone.
They hate renewable resources. Hate Peace. Hate America is what it looks like. Who in their right minds objects to affordable health care except these degenerate GOPers? What would we become if not for these murdering thugs? I can see the priorities of the GOPers. Its clear they prefer us to be unemployed without any unions speaking up for our benefit. They want America to be a third world country just to get cheap labor. How the hell can vermin like this be taken seriously serving the dirtbags in Big Oil for tinkle down paychecks? Other than by a corporate mainstream media of propagandists. In their pointy lil heads believing if we don't exploit the environment and trash the aquifer then we must be hippies? If flames don't shoot out of our sinks from Fracking we must be socialists.
Same mindset sending 4000 kids to die in Lieraq, while democrats look like deer in the headlights or cry about it. Wishing and hoping someone will feel sorry for them. No justice or truth, lies are simply unfactual statements. Ooopsie. It's only legislation. Not like lying about steroids or something, just trying to shutdown clinics for the poor and those on reservations. Isn't it obvious the GOPers lie and cheat, yet no one takes them to task or court or jail. Again what is the point of pretending in all this democracy stuff? Same Kochroach prohibitionists selling jail cages, same killing the infrastructure and middle class to outsource jobs.
Same as their ancestors spewing brown and black lung, Polio, dioxins and pcbs. Same making a fortune selling DDT and Saccharin and carcinogens that make Mittney rich. Tax cheats dodging responsibility for wrecking the environment while thoseselfish green people are just thinking of the kids health. No concern for Banksters. GOPervert bank accounts are bulging making us sick, where's your patriotism? Jerk that ole Wallmart plastic flag. Made in China taking Americans jobs. Made by kids GOPers are just soooo damned concerned about. 12-16 hour shifts sewing plastic from crude oil drilled in Iraq. Buying Sadamn and Bin Laden bullets to shoot at the American and Mexican kids who can't find work so they enlist. Save em from drugs forfeiting their homes, a kind of tough love. Pitiful fools and their fossils.
Fossil Fuels vs American Homegrown Bio-diesel "Biodiesel as an alternative fuel is considered a more cost efficient choice among the available technologies for transit systems this size," said Richard Matthews, Transit Director of Athens. "The high capital costs associated with renovating the maintenance and fueling facilities to operate equipment on compressed natural gas is not present with biodiesel. The only facility modifications needed are a separate fuel storage tank and pump. Facility modifications were necessary for this project because only two buses were operated on a biodiesel blend. If a bus system would switch the entire fleet to a biodiesel blend, separate infrastructure would not be necessary. No modifications to the equipment are needed if the vehicle is run with a blend of 80% standard diesel and 20% bio-fuel. A vehicle can be run on a "neat" or 100% biodiesel, but some fuel system components may need to be changed."
Tracking Carbon Dioxide Emissions from Fossil Fuel Burning The largest single source of atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) is the burning of fossil fuel (coal, oil and gas), which currently accounts for ~80% of the annual human made emission of CO2 into the atmosphere.
Henry Ford Made a Hemp Car Apparently Henry Ford made a car where the exterior was some sort of fiber-reinforced composite using industrial hemp. The video shows Henry Ford hitting the trunk of the car with an axe, and it doesn’t leave a dent. An article appeared in Popular Mechanics Magazine, Vol. 76, No. 6, December,1941, titled: “Auto Body Made of Plastics Resists Denting Under Hard Blows”. The article goes on to describe the car exterior, including windshield and windows, as being made from a mixture “composed of farm crops and synthetic chemicals, the plastic is reported to withstand a blow 10 as great as steel without denting…” The article also quotes Ford as saying he would “grow automobiles from the soil.”
Plus Fossil Fools establishing an easy target for terrorists...
US: DRUGS WAR or OIL PROTECTION? Since 1986, according to Colombian government sources, the countrys guerrilla groups have bombed oil pipelines more than 1,000 times and have kidnapped hundreds of oil-company executives and employees. Using these operations as leverage, the guerrillas have generated roughly $140 million per year in ransoms and extortion payments. They also squeeze taxes from local contractors working for the companies. In all, the oil revenue rivals conservative estimates of guerrilla earnings from the cocaine and heroin trades. Biomass In a process called "photosynthesis" , plants capture sunlight and transform it into chemical energy. This energy may then be converted into electricity, heat, or liquid fuels using a number of different energy conversion processes. The organic resources that are used to produce energy using these processes are collectively called "biomass".

Already digging the part that goes through Okieland. They say even if Keystone isn't approved that it will be used for local oil. But we all know part of getting this thing back on track will be " hey a big part is already done".
The problem with alternative energy sources is the law of diminishing returns. Which means that it takes more energy to produce fuel then you get from consuming said fuel. The oil you use to fuel your cars took hundreds of millions of years to produce. 1 gallon of gasoline is the equivalent of 600 man hours of physical labor. We will never find an energy source as abundant as fossil fuels.
Cheap oil has allowed us to become the most decadent civilization in history. It has allowed globalization and shipping around the world. It has aloud us to artificially expand the food supply which lead to overpopulation. We not only need to find alternative energy solutions but we must dial back our uses for energy and learn to be more self-sufficient as we were in the past before oil.

An acre of Hemp can produce 10 tonnes of fuels in 4 months, it can create methane, ethanol, gasoline or even a charcoalized product with nearly the same BTU as coal and could replace coal, North America would only need to dedicate 10% of our landmass to farming Hemp to become 100% energy independent on a clean, sustainable, renewable resource. Hemp grows from the arctic to the antarctic circle and in nearly any soil type, it requires 0 pesticide, 0 herbicide and next to no fertilizer, it also enhances the soil fertility for the next growing season. Any pollutants created from the use of hemp fuels would be offset by the growing of the next hemp crop. I could continue with the benefits but you get the idea.

"We will never find an energy source as abundant as fossil fuels."
"Abundant Renewable Energy
Most developing countries have abundant renewable energy resources, including solar energy, wind power, geothermal energy, and biomass, as well as the ability to manufacture the relatively labor-intensive systems that harness these. By developing such energy sources developing countries can reduce their dependence on oil and natural gas, creating energy portfolios that are less vulnerable to price rises. In many circumstances, these investments can be less expensive than fossil fuel systems."
"Currently, United States is still heavily reliant on non-renewable energy sources such as coal, natural gas and oil. These sources of energy are also known as fossil fuel Yet, governments are realizing that fossil fuel is a finite source of energy, which is deemed to come to an end, and the cost of extracting these non-renewable is constantly rising. On the brighter side, renewable-energy sources are infinite and have experienced a steady reduction in cost during the recent years."
Hemp methanol, on the other hand, does make the fuel lineup. According to Tim, hemp ethanol could be produced for 1.37 per gallon plus the cost of the feedstock, with technological improvements and tax credits reducing the price another dollar or so per gallon! (14) And the cost of the feedstock would become much more available as more hemp was grown for more products, providing more and more free (or nearly-free) feedstock as a “waste product”. Could you imagine paying under 50 cents per gallon (US) or 15 cents per liter (CAN) for your hemp ethanol?!!

What Baggins seems to not understand if fossil fuel will run out and get more costly to use and find. We must start now trying other engery sources so as to avoid the wars, and econmic collaspe.

One hates to think of a group of supposedly civilized people intentionally selling non renewable fossil fools for a profit over the health of the population. Or to shun, stall, twart every attempt to instill a renewable resource. Just for profits? The gossip is lame the jig is up. Stop poisoning people with gossip. Fossil fools are in use due to lies and political maneuvering and media propaganda by Hearst the same as sabotaging Ganja and Hemp. That has to be one of the laziest attempts at a fossil fool commercial. Just say no eh?
"Narcotics police are an enormous, corrupt international bureaucracy ... and now fund a coterie of researchers who provide them with 'scientific support' ... fanatics who distort the legitimate research of others. ... The anti-marijuana campaign is a cancerous tissue of lies, undermining law enforcement, aggravating the drug problem, depriving the sick of needed help, and suckering well-intentioned conservatives and countless frightened parents." -- William F. Buckley, Commentary in The National Review, April 29, 1983, p. 495

Its a simple law of physics. Any time one form of energy is converted into another form of energy there is a net loss
Processing hemp into fuel requires processing equipment likely fueled by hemp and photosynthesis which produces the hemp.
Essentially the primary source of all your energy from hemp comes from photosynthesis so wouldn't solar energy stored in the form of HHO gas be more practical.
