Thanks Labrat, I'm gonna flip those plants as soon as I'm confident that the tops I pruned are growing well as was suggested by you guys. Last night I topped up the water (I added about 10 liters to a 55 liter nute reservoir) and took another PPM reading today and it was up again. It confused me because I actually took a reading last night, but it immediately looked like the nutes were diluted, but then, the PPM level climbed back up by this morning. So what do you think??

Hahaha, thought you'd like that.
As long as your confused, I'm ok with that, lol.
I assumed it had something to do with the heat and evaporation or something, but there's a lid on my nutes reservoir, so I dunno.
They sure are growing fast though, no complaints there!
I'm not sure, but I "think" I can see a couple tiny white hair starting to come out of one of the stalks, hope it's a female!

Well, these plants are growing like crazy! I waited the recommended 10 days after topping them to switch over to flowering, and in that time, a couple of the plants actually split off with branches almost 3 inches long. I guess I must be doing "something" right...lol. The problem now is as I suspected, there is SO much foliage that I cannot see anything that's going on in there now, the plants are tightly packed together and competing for space. Those big fan leaves are blocking all the light to the lower branches, but I'm told eventually the lower branches will pop up above the canopy and over grow the fan leaves? I'm just a bit concerned that given that I'm using fluorescent tubes for the flowering stage that not enough light will be reaching the lower levels of the plants. I am going to add a 4 or 6 2600K 100W equivalent (well, 23W actually) CFL's to the lighting as soon as I can rig up the lighting fixture, then it will be a lot brighter. I swapped out a few of the six 6500K florescent tubes with 3000K tubes, I just could not find the 2700K tubes locally anywhere, hope the 3000K are ok along with the 2700K CFL's. They are now switched over to 12/12, and hopefully I'll soon see the signs of sex in the non feminized plants soon, but it's a REAL chore trying to get in there and see anything with all that foliage. Should I do any leaf removal to thin this mess out at all, or leave it as is?? There are actually a few of the lower leaves dying and falling off here and there, so I'm guessing it's because of not enough light to the base of the plants. Also, I haven't done anything to the nutes, they are just the same as always, sitting at about 830PPM currently. Should I do anything to them for the flowering time? I was told that the "Aqua Flakes" brand nutes I'm using are good for veg to harvest, so what do you think?? Take a look at the pics and tell me what you think. Thanks!!

I wouldn't take any of the fans off just yet. With the weaker lights that you have you want the plants to have as much light gathering ability as possible during the stretch when they will be going through a massive growth spurt. It wouldn't hurt to get a bloom enhancer to perk up the buds. I use AN Big Bud early in flowering and then OverDrive to finish up with. You want something highest in potassium, K, and low in N and P. Like 1-4-8 or something in that kind of ratio. Even the Bloom food at the gardening store is better than nothing but go easy with it as it will raise your ppm. You could cut back a little on your reg nutes to compensate. Or you could just keep doing what your doing and experiment a bit on your next grow. Plants seem to be doing fine and maybe best to get a grow done 1st. You should be able to sex them soon and get the males out and you'll have more room then.

Thanks Labrat as always.
I've only got 5 non-feminized plants out of 13, so I'm not sure how much room would be freed up by removing any males, but I guess I'll wait and see.
All the plants I see in pictures look so spindly compared to my short bushy plants, but I wanted them short, so that's good.
I germinated these plants on june 13th, and only just switched them to flowering a couple days ago, is that too long in veg?
Also, I'm a bit confused about the weeks of flowering until ready for harvest, when they say for example "8 weeks flowering", do they mean 8 weeks from the time you switch them over, or do they mean in total from germination?
With these plants, what do you think the harvest time should be now that they are switched over?
Thanks!!

8 weeks from when you flip. Being that those look like heavy on the indica side I would aim for 8-9 weeks. A lot of those skinny plants are sativa dominant and that's their natural shape. They can be made bushy by early and repeated topping. You're not too long in veg. You can veg for years like you would to keep a good mother for cloning. You should be cropping those by or before the end of Sept. Smoking nicely cured bud by the end of Oct. Doesn't mean that you can't be testing lots 'til then tho!

Yeah, those are "supposed" to be indica cross breeds that Health Canada are supplying. The ones in the very front are HC's strain, and the ones in the back are Big Bang and Exodus Cheese. Can't wait to get some real budding action going on so I know how they are gonna produce, once I know that they are flowering properly, I'll feel alot better about putting so much time and money into this crop so far. Thanks labby!
