I haven't been what Christians call Christian in a long long time, but I like how C.S. Lewis treated the Chinese buddhist situation - everything good you do, you do in the name of good, everything bad you do, you do in the name of bad, God apparently looks at the heart and if you are sincere in being a good person, whatever your religion, you get into heaven.
It gets tricky though when you are asked to define "good person", I look at it this way, if you are mindful about never doing anything that harms another person, you're on the right path.
These days I'm definitely of the view that most rivers lead to the ocean.
