Coyote piss and human hair. Many deer around ohio and I 'hear' this works well. Think of losing a plant or two too a deer as your income tax for using the land sucks but it is what it is...always grow three to four times as many as you want to harvest because rippers, eyes in the sky, and deer will some every year...sometimes more than you would like. anyways, coyote piss will wear down over time and the hair will blow away...simply apply every time you go water...hope this helps..

Put a handful of hair or more into a panty-hoe and hang it from a low tree branch, it's not fool proof but it helps. Try not to make it visible though.

I've used chicken wire cages in the past, 2 or 3 feet high around the youngins should protect them long enough to get established.

Another excellent idea is pissing all around your area when you're out there. Mark your territory. If you piss in the jug like ISM mentioned, it'll stick around longer and go all funky in the sunshine.

I have also noticed that dear (especially in your neck of the woods, areas close to Vancouver Island) tend to go for the plants with the fruitiest flavors. They left my skunk well alone. Anything that smells musty, skunky, or like shit will less likely be eaten.

Also, if there are indeed coyote, or wolves in the area, try leaving dog biscuits. Keeps them nearby. Although I have noticed that dog food of many sorts will attract raccoons. Although I haven't seen anything I could attribute as raccoon damage to my plants.

Oh yeah. And loud-mouthed politicians you recently slaughtered. Can't forget about that.

i've had something dig up a plant and kill it, it was after the goodness under the plant though, that great stinky compost i was using.

and had something, most likely a deer, take a bite out of a plant but didn't kill it.

I have never had deer eat a plant although they seem to run through them and break branches etc. Rabbits seem to like running around through them but not one eats anything . There are chems you can get but I get deer in my yard and I have a Huge Wossy half Husky Half Rothwieler that marks his ground regularly but they don't seem to care so After harvest fauna I will harvest flora. Might be a good fall.

What do you do with it the rest of the time?!
