So..not trying to add to our communal knowledge by any means here, this is just something I did earlier today.
I wanted to see if there was any way I could test smoke some bud cut off a plant in mid/late flowering without burning the hell out of my throat by smoking the nutrients.

So I cut off a little bud, dropped it in a cereal bowl with some RO water (4ppm) and microwaved that at a low boil in my inverter microwave for a total of maybe 10 minutes. I changed the water midway through. I then set the waterlogged bud on a folded up paper towel back in the microwave. Power level 2, ran until it was dry and smokeable, took probably another 10 minutes. (I kept stopping the microwave to check it)

Then it was time to blaze, so I broke out the hakko iron and my little bubbler. It's definitely less harsh than it would have otherwise been. I should have checked the tds of that water I boiled, but I didn't feel like waiting for it to cool down. The plant it was from is currently in dwc at about 1400ppm.

I don't know if the boiling water melted away thc, but the plant seems to have the expected effects..

Why boiling water? Couldn't you just take a test nug and let it sit in the water for a bit so the nutes leech out?

Many moons ago, I was laughed at for keeping the left overs from a bubble bag run. Those left overs smoked so smooth. Still gave a decent buzz to.

To dry it I would shake the water off the bud then place on paper towel, inside a box which is placed on its side in front of my dehumidifier. The opening facing the dehumidifier.

I once had a dealer sell me some outdoor that had some other plant material in it. I called him and told him to come back and give me some indoor. Then showed him a jar with weed, water and some unknown plant matter in it. Weed at the bottom and other at the top.

Ew, I would never, not ever microwave a bud so I could smoke it. Even if I was intrested in a test, I'd wait. It just sounds wrong. lol

I've done it... started more than one small fire too, as the bud gets dry electrically conducting salts accumulate in the stems and the microwaves can set up currents in these, try it some time with popcorn buds, the kitchen fills with an almost edible aroma until suddenly the buds start sparking and smoke pours out. Maybe this doesn't happen with a pre-soak first though.

These days I try test buds in a vaporizer, the lower-weight and more aromatic terpenes vaporize first, then the water, then the cannabinoids. The water stage lasts a while...

I agree microwave bud and oven bud are gross however... lol
I have been in the situation where i needed to do this more than once. I find if you wrap up a bud in paper towel and start it in the microwave, leave it in there until it starts to sweat and get wet. once you can feel the humidity from the bud in the paper towel take it out and leave it out in the air. I find this speeds up drying while still having a somewhat smoke able bud that I find will not hurt your throat as much. if you grow organically then its not that bad, the taste is more like banana skins rather than a harsh fresh cut grass taste.
The longer you microwave for, the more THC you turn into CBN (confused unclear rather than high)
This is just my opinion - Give it a shot.

I think the fact that it is stupid idea has already been established. I was giving my experience with the subject. Thanks for the tip tho..

When I get to that point in the road,I just put it in the dehydrater for 3, 20 min. sessions,allowing it to cool for 30 min. between sessions of heat. Takes a couple hrs. from flower room to bowl. I would prefer to water cure it for 7 days first, with nutes that high,it's gonna be harsh even in a water pipe.
