hello mr hand,

israel did not really leave gaza in 2005 nor remove it's military because israel and the IDF maintain control of land/water/air access to the gaza strip, effectively making israel a foreign occupying power operating the largest concentration camp in history

as for hamas, i can imagine the type of american resistance organization that would be created if mexico decided to take it's land back by force (backed by russia), and 150 million americans were herded into washington state, fenced in, and surrounded by mexico's russian-funded military...with the weapons america has now, that american resistance organization would make hamas look like woodstock

of course that would be impossible because america is a superpower, for a while anyway...but even in your relative state of safety and comfort, you still stoke the fires of hatred in support of israel's oppression

rocket attacks are dreadful crimes, but exactly how many israeli's have been killed by those thousands of rocket and mortar attacks? according to the israel's ministry of foreign affairs, 31 israelis have been killed by over 12,000 palestinian rocket/mortar attacks between 2001 and 2012, (not just attacks from gaza)...that is approximately the same number of deaths caused by car accidents in israel in a single month (not to imply that one rocket-related death is the same as one car-related death)

during the same period, the IDF has killed palestians in the gaza strip...during 2006 - 2007, the IDF killed over 800 palestinians in the gaza strip, and between 200 - 360 of those fatalities were innocent civilians...hamas is a poorly equipped group of bunglers compared to the IDF...the IDF even puts the US assassination program to shame

every israeli death by rocket attack is a terrible crime, but israel's treatment by the palestinians is also a terrible crime...both crimes target the innocent and neither crime justifies the other...that is why i neither support palestinians rocket attacks nor israel's treatment of the palestinian population

Jews were exiled from the city of Jerusalem by the Romans, not the entirety of Israel/Judea. And even that was for a relatively short period of time.

In the year 135 CE, the Romans decided to evict the vast majority of Jews living in the province of Judea, after the Bar Kochba Revolt. The province had seen many insurrections ever since the Romans took over. First with the Sicarii Zealots assassinating many Romans and Roman collaborators, which then built up to the Jewish War form 66 CE to 70CE, and then the Bar Kochba Revolt 65 years later. Rome decided they had enough, so they kicked out most of the Jewish population, and then renamed the province "Syria Palestina" from which we get the word "Palestine" The Romans got the name form the ancient and long extinct enemy of the Jews, the Philistines. They also changed the name of Jerusalem to "Aelia Capitolina"

Some Jews were allowed to remain, but they were in the minority.

Well if we are going to rehash ancient history:

- who says otherwise? britain and the UN gave israel legal statehood so that issue has been settled for 65 years regardless of where jews were living 3000 or 300 years ago...the problem is that israel has illegally expanded it's borders and populated terrority outside it's legal borders...most arabs and israelis would agree to peace if israel retreated behind it's pre-1967 borders and recognized a palestinian state...that deal would double the original zize of israel:

Yeah ... like whomever it was that wrote the Old Testament ... all the pre-Moses history of the Jews is outside of Israel ... vicious lies, slander and propaganda, no doubt.

The earliest writings about Mohammed were not written until more than a century later. The first biography of Mohammed was written by Ibn Ishaq about 130 years after his death. The Hadiths were not written down until about 200 years after his death. So, there is not much information available to confirm or reject the tradition Islam view of Mohammed’s life and teachings. Added to that, scholars who inquire too closely or skeptically about such matters are apt to find their lives in danger, and the Saudi government seems determined to see that no archaeological evidence of Mohammed’s time survives.

So: What did non-Muslims have to say about Muhammad and Islam, during his lifetime, and for 60 years afterward?

Nothing.

They made no mention of Muhammad or Muslims or Islam at all, at least until around the start of the 8th century. In case you’re thinking that there’d be no reason for outsiders to mention the religion of some obscure far-off tribe, remember that starting with the date of Muhammad’s purported death in 632, Arabs galloped out of the desert and conquered or captured almost the entirety of the Near East, the Middle East and North Africa in just a few decades. They encountered many cultures and civilizations, but none of those conquered peoples seem even to have heard of Islam or Muhammad.
