Unless it were artificially inflated market, I would expect a half oz to cost equivalent to a fifth of fine liquor. So, 100 an oz or less, as competition enters the markets. As historical reference, here is a great article by economist Jeffery Miron.

Sad to say it, but I doubt the prices will change much. The so called "Medical Dispensaries" here in the States have their prices right up with the normal price you pay on the street, $20-$30/gram, $60-$75/eighth for dro, $30-$60/gram, $90-$150/eighth for some hash (non-opium).

I doubt the prices will come down much, if at all.

While tax's have help keep the price up so has people shipping their weed to other places for more money. If it was legal they couldn't ship so I would expect prices to drop by half. That's just based on a long life of watching other things and their prices not any hard facts.

Dispensaries in my area are down to $20-30 an eighth average due to market competition despite the increase in licensing fees and the costs of operating within the regulations. Revenue from licensing fees and taxes on medical marijuana production and distribution is a nice little chunk of money that is now entrenched in our state budget, which in my opinion can only help the case for legalization. Check out Amendment 64, personally I think it is the most well thought out plan for legalization that has ever made a ballot in any state. Regulate marijuana like alcohol.

A very good link, but I still say we'd see a 50% price drop, unles as that article said it was over taxed.

I believe the prices will drop, especially with competition. It all depends on whether the new market scheme will be monopolistic, oligopolistic, or laisse faire.

It will be taxed to death here in Canada. Like booze, it will become a cruch for the Government and prices will remain similar to what they are now.

Now quality should be the question???
