In voting for more rights I'm thinking that since it is medicine, it should be tax free. That if needed they should have a way to get bigger grow areas if needed[if grow areas or number of plants are limited] That laws about using at work should be removed for them.

No one is special just due to a medical condition, Our constitution doesn't provide exceptions to medical patients, All people are endowed with certain inalienable rights, the right of life, liberty, and the persuit of happiness. If you start to make exceptions to these 3 rights for certain members of society and not others you are taking away the rights for everyone not in the "certain members of society." This will create an imbalanced playing field. If you have a medical condition you still have the three rights, if you don't have a medical condition you still have the three rights.

Jus my 2 cents worth

To bad when the passed the Constitution they did not include the right to the "pursuit of happiness" even though it was called for in the Delectation of Independence. We would have been much better off if they had. But without it they will pass laws about what you pay, what you can do, etc. and I think those that have a need even more than a desire should have their need protected.

in sense of limits though g wiz, which shouldn't even exist, don't you agree a medical patient should be allowed the right to a higher grow limit than that of somebody who would be growing/smoking for recreation?

Anyone should be able to grow as much pot as they want regardless of medical need.

I totally agree with that. BUT that is not likely to be what happens. If there are any limits, the rights of those in medical need should be placed first.

This is a very loaded question. In Canada we are lucky enough to have a public health care system that does its best to care for the sick and dying. Now it could get funded better, which would change if the government did not waste money on things like the military or legalized herb to collect more taxes.

The Charter of Rights and Freedoms guarantee we all have the same rights. Canadians generally believe that people with a medical necessity should have access to treatment. So we provide beds to the sick, food for the dying and medicine to people in pain. These privledges are not extended to everyone.

Since this question is posted here it is hard not to assume the question is really more like: How can we justify allowing some people to use cannabis as medicine while treating everyone else like a criminal?

Allowing people to use cannabis as medicine is an important and necessary step towards legalization. The general population will realize that instead of causing cancer, anxiety and other medical problems, cannabis can treat most medical problems. Then many of the prohibitionists arguments will be proven wrong. Given that is does help with so many medical problems that are very painful, there is no doubt sick people should be a priority.

I know for a fact if I did not sell strictly to people with permanent, physical disabilities and diseases that the courts and police would have shut me down a long time ago. Our group
continues to spend a lot of resources towards legalizing cannabis for everyone, but sick people come first.

The things I said that they should have more rights on did not assume that only those with medical need would have access. NO TAXES on medicine, able to use your medicine at work, and able to self produce all the medicine you need even if there are limits on recreation users in how much they can grow. Just as there is now a limit on how much beer and wine you can make for your self for recreation.
