can someone please settle this for me or atleast try. is acapulco gold a dead strain? everyone ive talked to that smoked it in the 70's says there is no more. they say ofcourse that the original is the best that ever was and ever will be., and that anyone who says they have it is lying. so are they ignorant to the truth or are they right, cuz ive seen on some seed sites them saying they have it but then the same sites call pistils trichomes., i had a friend growing pot of gold and he said that it was Acapulco golds cousin or whatever and he also agreed i believe that it is a dead strain does anyone have any info on this subject/strain? any info is appricciated.

There's a site out there that specializes in old land race strains and they should have it.

It was the best of it's time but to get the real stuff was a crap shoot as folks just called whatever they had whatever they thought would sell best.

I doubt those old stains are really as good as us old stoners remember but for the day they beat the hell out of Mexican dirt pot and that was the strain widely available and dirt cheap. About $200/lb and half that was stems and seeds.

I was a cabbie in the '70s and knew all the dealers so I got the real deal. Thai sticks, Panama Red, Jamaican Red Hair etc. That's when I started growing.

Sure wish I had kept those strains running. lol

I'd google "land race seeds" and you'll likely find them.

Hope that helps.

peace

well i had already searched it, but it stil seemed to be alot of mixed answers. i suppose the just of it is that its stil around sort of except its not really the same for maybe a couple of reasons due to breeding and crossing and all that good stuff. just wondering if anyone on here had seen or heard of any seemingly for sure pure Acapulco gold seeds, clones, plants, bud, or info. thanks for the replys.

I have grown Acapulco gold crossed with white widow...and these seeds can be had at highgrade seeds, in their "vintage" seed pack.

Here is copy and paste about the seed pack..

Yes, the ORIGINAL strains from the 70's Panama Red, Acapulco Gold & Colombian Gold crossed with White Widow!!!

These original strains were crossed with White Widow as there were no females in the bunch so currently we have a small stock of this cross which contains 50% of the original genetics from the killer strains of the 70s !!!

I know it's not a pure strain, but it's a start (:

shaughnny did you post a grow log & smoke report? I've been eyeing those vintage genes and wondering whether its worth the effort? I remember smoking Acapulco Gold once in the 70's and it was as near to a psychedelic high. none of the sativa dominant or so called sativa only varietals I've tried come anywhere close to it.

any info to share then?
