Drug dealers are walking free, NDP leader Adrian Dix reminded Public Safety Minister Shirley Bond in the final question period. Dix referred to a Prince George case this fall where a convicted cocaine dealer racked up more trafficking charges while he was on trial, and then was released because he couldn’t be tried in a timely fashion.

Wow ... sounds prohibitionisty.

Well, it's only gonna happen more often as the new draconian pot laws start getting enforced and the courts get even more backed up.

How the Feds think they can drop more work on the courts while cutting back funding is just another example of how incredibly wrong-headed they are.

People are waking up to the corrupt and devious methodology of Harper and his band of stooges and I predict that he will not last out his full term.

Hoping to watch Harper go down in flames!

Here you can get life for a brownie but only 25 years for having sex with kids. I not a big fan of the courts not being backed up.

right on labrat. harper has the med community running around with their heads cut off and the rules for mmar use won't even change until 2015-maybe, and when the class action suits hit them it won't change at all because harper will be long gone by then

Salutations,

If HarePeur ain't going to be around by 2015 then maybe it's now time to self-organize before the next government starts to organize our cannabic world again... 'cause, yano... Mini-PET hasn't earned my trust just yet and i must confess his mother's past still has got me somewhat worried, actually, despite a recent political statement on decriminalization...

confused

Some time ago i liked to think that Justin Trudeau might be tempted to emulate his father's early flamboyant style (about having no business in bedrooms), whatever. This was before i read his declaration « It's not your mother's pot! » and then learned about his mother's book (Changing My Mind).

...

In my own opinion cannabis should be treated exactly like alcohol and hence there would be no reason to fear police intervention at least within the boudaries of our private lives.

At the moment i doubt Mini-PET is ready to adjust his conceptions that much so it leaves only the NDP as my real alternative for the next elections, although i wonder if Mulcair has the capability to recognize how wrong the prohibition has got, etc.

Anyway. Lets suppose someday my province finally begins to handle cannabis exactly like tobaco, alcohol and gambling, euh... I might be in favour of a different distribution structure for medicinal cannabic products, to help with purity/safety in extracts for example...

We already have laws to address conterfeit and cannabis flowers are easily to recognize.

peace

Egzoset cannabis should be treated like the herbal medicine that it is . It is not booze and Should not be treated as such. Cannabis should be teated like
Basil or lettuce but not like booze.

Hi,

I don't share the idea that cannabis is for medicinal use alone (that's what anti-cannabic warriors want us to endorse!) and i can understand why a significant amount of the population wouldn't want to see it sold besides fine herbs at a grocerie store.

All cannabis is used medicinally. Just think about it , why do you personally use it.
Everybody i have ever asked with out a mmar has said that it releived stress . If that is not a medical use then what is it then. Nobody has ever died from a cannabis overdose ,however i have seen the dammage alcohol causes.
Boose kills people by the thousands every mounth. Booze causes escalating
Health care and criminal costs .Cannabis does none of these things. Its a totally
Different substance and treating it like booze is a failure.

I also think most pot use is medicinal. In my own fairly long experience, only a few of my smoking friends continued to smoke. Has time's gone by, most of those around me smoke, but it's taken a long time to make that true.

That being said, can anyone explain to me why the crown doesn't have to prove pot is harmful? Aren't we protected against arbitrary laws? If we're not we should be.

Gawd, I didn't like the tone of that... Conservatives are out, that's a given, I'm not too hot on the Liberals either... but lately I've been kind of ambivalent about the NDP too. I'll probably end up voting for whoever has the best chance to oust the local Conservative representative. But I dunno...

And, now, I just have to say something because I get so irked when I see claims that herbals are harmless, making claims like that gives the other side ammunition for bob's sake. There are plenty of herbals that are dangerous if misused, and some can only be used as poisons. Don't make the claim that cannabis is harmless because it's herbal, make the claim that cannabis is harmless, period!

If cannabis was no more effectual than basil or lettuce, we wouldn't even be here discussing it. It would be some obscure plant growing in the middle east and asia that only botanists and maybe the flavourings industry cared about.

We are here because cannabis gets you high! It heals! It eases the pain of what can't be healed! And its seed and fibre have myriad uses, many of which threaten established industries. Cannabis is VERY effectual, so much so that it scares some people for various reasons.

And that fear comes out of ignorance, and we should be doing our best to educate, not misinform.

Sorry, rant over.
