Only in California and no other MMJ States: Federal authorities today announced a crackdown on 36 medical marijuana dispensaries in Los Angeles County, including raids on two shops in Santa Fe Springs and warning letters to 34 businesses and property owners. Interestingly, the actions did not involve any pot shops in the city of Los Angeles. In case you're wondering, yes, this is part of that federal crackdown on pot shops in California that has so far seen 220 dispensaries targeted in the U.S. Attorney's Central District of the state alone. Santa Fe Springs, Whittier, South El Monte, La Mirada, Diamond Bar, Artesia, Paramount, South Gate, City of Commerce, Agoura Hills and Malibu. Search-warrant-enabled raids were conducted this morning at Tri-City Patient's Association and the Canna-America Collective (a.k.a. Organic Way Collective) on Rosecrans Avenue in Santa Fe Springs, according to a statement from the U.S. Attorney's Office in L.A. Those two shops were also hit with federal civil asset forfeiture lawsuits. In other words, Uncle Sam is taking their weed. http://blogs.laweekly.com/informer/2012/06/marijuana_crackdown_los_angeles_pot_shops.php#more

Time ta take the Pot Leaf signs out of the window. Time ta stop the Giant Joint Sign twirlers. Private Clubs, Private Co Ops, or Delivery services can remain under the radar for years. Of course if you REALLY look at Most California Dispensarys you would find THEY ARE FOR PROFIT. Time ta change the California Constitution to allow for Profit sales in California if you even care about Dispensarys. Most Growers, Transporters, and Retailers want MARIJUANA to remain illegal. Keeps the prices up. Most Commercial Growers are in it for Cash, not ta help sick ol Grammy. Sativex is coming soon, which will allow Cannabis arrests to go on, and all other forms of the plant will remain illegal. And thos with Connections will of course Buy the Right to Grow for the Pharmy companys. Thats the regulation they have in mind for MMJ. While some States have decriminalized Cannabis, or made Cannabis the Lowest priority, not one has made it Legal. Until That starts ta happen, and more States stand up to the Feds on this issue, the sames waves of Peace, then Oppression will continue as always. My belief is that as Far as Medical Cannabis is concerned, if someone is in need we all should do our VERY best to get it for them. No matter what. As far as Retail sales? Well, no one could ever explain to me the reason why a huge Cash Cow like Hemp, that is Sustainable, forever, does not interest the "Big Boys".. To me its like being able to Grow GOLD, OIL, AND THE BEST OF ALL.... MONEY. The best explination I got was from Jack Herer himself. He said they are a bunch of evil assholes and FUCK THEM. I agree.
To me this country is turning into a bad Science fiction Movie. And I am beginning to feel like Roddy Piper after he found the glases.

Interesting... The shop I once briefly managed was in SFS, CA. NONE of the shops there were 100% legal, because the city of Santa Fe Springs would NOT grant business licenses to ANY dispensary - PERIOD. They'd been trying to shut them ALL down for years and even passed a virtual "ban" without public comment near the end of 2010. A round of DEA letters to landlords regarding asset forfeiture went out to all known clubs in early 2011; these letters were clear about the Feds intent to raid back then... just surprised it took almost a year and a half for them to follow through. I was saddened last year when all our patients lost their safe access when the landlord decided to bow-down to the DEA threats; at least then they had other places to go for medicine because some collectives were able to stay and fight. Now, all these patients (including my Alzheimer's stricken Mother-in-Law) have no LOCAL safe access. I know there are many who feel MMJ and/or dispensaries are a "sham" and whatnot, but it hurts my heart to think of those in truly vulnerable positions without their medicine. I am proud to have been involved in the collective while it lasted. It was an amazing labor of love in the community where my husband grew-up. Short-lived as it was, I will always be proud of the work we did there. Nothing short of miraculous witnessing an MS patient quickly regain control of her body just minutes after toking. The pharma my mom-in-law takes for her dementia doesn't do much to slow the progression of her Alzheimers, and has nasty side-effects to boot. It will be depressing to assess her deterioration caused by lack of herbal medicine when she comes up to meet her first/only grandchild after his birth. I sincerely hope her mental decline is not so rapid as to prevent her trip up to Oregon in September. While this is a political fight for some, it is personal to me and my family. We are deeply affected by the loss of Safe Access in Whittier, Santa Fe Springs, and greater Los Angeles
