yes that is exactly what is going on they are rootbound and stunted. there is nothing wrong with that at all. as you can see by my pics i put up for you. if you can keep em well fed and watered you can achieve quite a bit of bud if you go SOG and run a shit ton of smaller containers...but mind you there are mixed opinions on this subject.. most will say more roots more bud. but it all depends on how you utilize your spacewink

what are you using for soil? pre mixed or your own mix?
if your in a pre mix like fox farms or roots organics then a simple wormcasting and molasses tea will be just fine. it will re balance your medium if you have any defencies. mind you in small containers it is easy to give your plants molasses toxicisity which is basically not good it will lock out your other nutrients.I ALWAYS USE LESS MOLASSES cause the brand i use is very potent and easy to overdose on. same applies if you are using kelp meal or seaweed. they are easy to overdose on and lock out your nutes.

interesting stuff that dank through in here and others commented on but why in the hell would someone want to rootbound their plants? This to me is insane.

Dank's pics back up a similar grow I've seen elsewhere, i.e. it clearly demonstrates how the shape and size of your pots heavily influence the shape and size of your pot.

Perhaps he is planting in something that looks like Pringle containers in order to keep the girls tall and thin... ? Dank, comments ?

well back when i was using them 3L containers my goal was to run like 20/30 of them but it is just to much work if you do not have them on a flood and drain system or wicks. this method is more for the college kids/dorm room grows or super mini cabs and what not. basically it is hand watered hydro. yeah i was using droganic. (organic soils/ B.C. NUTES) when i did the smaller containers they needed to be fed mild nutes every day once they went into flower. so any one who is a noob should really not try this method. it is very hands on and time consuming.basically guys by binding the root you are doing what the japanese have been doing for centurys BONZAI'S. by the time they are done there is pretty much no soil at all left in the container just roots, coco, perlite. this round i have brought some of the 3L's back into action for my clones to see how different they perform than their mothers in 3/5 gal.
this style of grow reminds me of one other style... that mainly grows homogenous looking clones. NFT. yeah it all goes back to basics. root mass does not only = bigger buds but it also = bigger plants. smaller mass smaller plants. i can honestly say their is no wrong way to grow bud if you have killer results with a quality product.. and you have the knowledge to make it work. i remember when i was running them containers and all certain peeps did was knock it.... till they started producing 16/20" single cola plants then they shut right the hell up.
yeah ok so all i did was ramble i dont think i answered one of the questions damn sample's i cut from the JUANS got me all fucked up wink

bigger pots sounds good to me. so what size pots did you decide on for the perm home? i really like 3 gals. but with certan strains they get just as big as a plant in a 5 gal. i personally will be going back to 2 gals so that i can root bind them and keep em around 24" tall and not so bushy. im going SOG all the way more plants in smaller containers trained well.
