I am high, so I don't know how much sense I'm going to make, but I'm having trouble understanding how a flushed plant is going to have anything left to metabolize for even one day after the flush, let alone 3-7 day.

Every day, the plants use light energy to photosynthesize. You take away the light, after the nutrients in the plant tissue are used up, growth stops. So this thing, you're taking away both the nutrients and the light, and the plant is supposed to somehow have increased trichome production? In the last 3-7 days?

Would you expect a clone to root if it were taken from a plant that had been flushed? (I don't mean a flowering plant, just a plant that had been deprived of nutrients) I would expect the clone to fail, as the nutes would have already been used up during the flush. Am I looking at this the wrong way? Lol

OK. Maybe I didn't make my opinion clear....This is a waste of time, and only gets newbs wondering about crackpot ideas. If you are new, and are thinking about trying this, let me, Reb, and Harvey save you some time. This does not improve anything, and until scientifically proven, I will stand by that.

Haley, I hope you are not offended by my comments. No offense was meant. I am only trying to keep newbs on the right track.

I have tired and as many state, no difference is noted. I believe that some plants may respond to the stress; however, 48 hours is not enough time to produce anything meaningful - in my opinion. Simply flush the soil the final weeks, let the plant dry and harvest. Hope this helps...peace and pot

Agreed, I too have played with this idea and no longer have any intrest in trying again. The ice water thing I do do though.

Not because it makes for better smoke, but because Im a lazy fuck and its easier to flush with a hose from the tap then from my reservoirssmile

Given any plants response time to a changing or ailing factor such as climatic conditions, doesn't it seem reasonable that a plants already slow reaction to adverse conditions will not be affected by such a short change in photoperiod?

forgive me if i seem a little unorthodox, but plants as we know them already take long enough to respond to a change in climatic conditions that 48 hours seems a little crazy response time for the "output" to be significantly increased.

Yeah rebs, im with ya. GUYS, you have a whole 70-120 days of flowering, why put so much interest in the last two days? If your not doing your job properly during the 2-3 months before hand whats do you magically expect to happen just before harvest?

What I don't understand is why would a mechanism in the plant, which evolved over who knows how many thousands of years, to protect the plant from UV rays, become more active after three to seven days of darkness? The plant doesn't seen to have any 'reason' to do so.

The cooler plant and root temperature may indicate to the plant that fall/winter has arrived and it must hurry and finish what it started... but who knows? And I don't know how one would do quantitative studies, only subjective studies (smoke em if ya have em and tell us what you think)

Just have to take the word of those that have been there I suppose.

Not to argue with you 52, but as for our favourite plant producing resin for UV protection, I have read a number of papers that dispute this: some say it is a response to predators (maybe bugs hate the taste of thc ..?), others agree with your position.

The land race strains produce little to no thc, yet these are still cannabis plants. As far as I know, the reason is still unknown...

Does anyone have a definitive answer to this, references included ?

Apologies for the hijack!
