dank, what is the purpose in root binding them? Personally I can't see any reason to do such but maybe I am in need of being educated on the subject, so please educate me as to why this would be done on purpose.

I read your post above talking about bonsai, but still do not see what possible benefit it has for growing. If I want a plant to be small, all I have to do pinch the stem and it stops upward growth, of course that will cause bushing. If I want a plant to be single cola and small without bushing, I guess root binding might work, but why would I desire such a plant? And if I did want such, I would simply put it into flower as soon as rooted in and it will do so without restricting the roots.

A point: Proper bonsai treatment of plants in general, requires trimming root ball, aS well as training and clipping of the main trunk and chosen bits. Now I'll go sit down. laugh

no real purpose of doing it reb unless space is an issue or like me experimenting
ive always wanted to run my space packed tight with em for shlitz an giggles but then reality slapped me and it is just to much time watering and teaing the soil.the containers are so small it is a hassle especially now being on overtime. so i have come to the conclusion that it is possible but completely fucking retarded if you cant dedicate everyday to watering such small ass containers. even thought 40 mini plants sounds coolish for complete coverage it is retarded still.forget i even brought it up im transplanting pronto.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think I figured out my problem just now with my ladies not growing branches I was looking at them just moments ago and noticed that only between the top two nodes branches r growing but not on the bottom so I just tied them down and FIM .the lights I have only give light to the top of them so the bottoms r left with hardly no light causing them to grow straight to the light not out like they should so who ever was the one who posted about the light being a issue was rite but along with a few other minor things but I'm to stoned to look threw the whole thread to see who it was but thanks everyone ill post pics as soon is I figure out how to through my smart (dumb) phone

dj, yup that is why many of us employ multiple lights in our set ups, much better coverage. For instance many run 2 x 600 watts rather than a 1000 watt. why? because you not only get more wattage but better heat dispersement and coverage and cost about the same for electric.

Couldn't agree more, RD, spreading out the light is definitely a good idea.

I do have a suggestion (fwiw) for a good use of small pots. Since I grow from seed, I have to germ and plant a number of beans each time. Once cracked and rooting, they are transfered to five inch pots, then placed in vegging room till ready to flip. Keep the plants in these pots till you ID the females (either from preflowers, or flip and see). Transplant the girls into 3-5 gallon pails, and either toss or keep the boys around for pollen. You can get a good amount of male flowers even if it's grown in such a small container.

Hope this is useful to someone.
