I'm not the only one that says this about CBD, raw-juicing expert Dr. Courtney believes that CBD on its own has not really much if any acute pain killing qualities. He's got an informative site,
www.cannabisinternational.org I've personally witnessed it by growing and consuming two specific strains (Cannatonic and Z7 The Remedy), growing a high THC phenotype of each strain right alongside a high CBD phenotype of each strain. That way I can compare head-to-head. If you were to vaporize each pheno alongside the other, you can tell the difference in effect right away.
I've also grown other strains before getting on this CBD kick, all were standard high THC strains, as I've had this disease for a decade now, and would use high THC strains for pain killing purposes. I only started reading abut CBD in 2010.
I used to be among the large majority that thought (incorrectly so) that CBD was degraded THC, so leaving plants to mature longer would have more CBD. I now know that CBD is a genetic characteristic as is THC.
I read that for MS, the ideal ratio is 1:1, which is why Sativex is at that ratio. One works one the pain while the other works on the spasticity issues with MS. But since I don't have MS, I can't really say much.
I tried Sativex for 5 weeks last year with my doc's blessing. We were trying to determine if any CBD would be helpful for my disease.
But since my disease is auto-immune and inflammation based, I got into the raw juicing regime as a way to ingest higher doses of CBD without the high that would be really uncomfortable if the THC were active. Instead of 10mg of CBD a day youd get from a daily "dose" of Sativex, you would get 400-500mg of CBD a day in raw format. In its raw state the THC-a is inactive and plays a negligible role compared to the larger amounts of CBD present. If you're looking on Dr. Courtney's site, go to his about page. There's a diagram that shows the "Pharmacological Actions of non-psychotropic Cannabinoids"...very informative.
I think THC:CBD ratios are going to be key to figuring this out better, as they relate to different conditions.
I just needed to find a better solution than all the crap I was being prescribed, that only minimally helped but made me feel like shit.
The DMARD class of anti-rheum drugs are basically lower doses of chemo drugs. They're hard on the liver, and I am sensitive to them...made me feel horribly ill. Nasty crap!
Docs love to give DMARDs along with equally nasty COX-2 drugs that rot your gut out and give you higher risk of heart probs. And then throw some Prednisone (steroids) in there, topped off with those nasty opiates...well, you get the picture.
For me, CBD is way more effective at managing my disease at the root level, so I don't need the pain killers or anti-rheumatic drugs anymore. Cannabis has replaced all those drugs for me, and I feel really healthy for the first time in a long time!
I highly recommend anyone serious about their health to get hold of some CBD rich strains, and trying out a raw juicing regime of their own.
