I kinda stumbled upon a website called medme.ca that claims to be able to assist people in obtaining an MMAR card and supply them with medical marijuana. That seems simple enough but a few things threw me off here. In their FAQ, the following raised my eyebrows.

Quote:
Who should not take medical marihuana?

You should not take medical marihuana if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, planning to get pregnant, or if you are allergic to any cannabinoid. Talk to your doctor if you have a history of heart disease, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or other disease of the airways. If you have a history of drug or alcohol abuse or dependence, or if you have a history of a serious mental disorder, such as schizophrenia, consult your physician.

So that seems to be a little off. I'm not sure what information they're using to back that kind of answer to an FAQ. There is more however.

Quote:
Is MedMe a compassion club?

We differ from other compassion clubs in that we are fully sanctioned by Health Canada and require all our members to acquire a MMAR card.

No idea what that actually means. If this company was "sanctioned" by Health Canada, I would think i would have heard of it no?

Quote:
Health Canada told me that I can only legally acquire marihuana from them, how are you legally supplying medical marihuana?

At one time it was true that the only legal way to purchase marihuana was through Health Canada; however, our company now works with Health Canada to get clients approved and we are authorized to supply medical marihuana to patients.

I can understand how some one might make the claim that they "work with" Health Canada to get patients a card but authorized to supply a list of clients with their meds?

The price is right I guess for those in need. $187.50 for 30 grams delivered by courier...delivery charge included in the price. But yeah, something here doesn't pass the sniff test. Is this a reputable place I just haven't heard about? Anyone in the know?

OH! Almost forgot. This wrinkled my nose on the eligibility page as well.

Quote:
Category 2:

1) Debilitating symptoms of medical conditions with confirmed diagnosis by a specialist where conventional treatments have not effectively relieved the symptoms.

It's my understanding that no other treatments actually have to have been tried, it's just strongly implied by the way the bureaucrats have craftily worded the forms.

So what the heck is up with these guys?

Cheers

They are probably covering their asses a bit on some of the scare myths, because it looks like they are trying to connect federally with gov't approval.

Maybe they want to replace the current govt mine-grown crappy weed with good stuff?

I don't have a med card, but if I did, I'd contact them and ask what federal approval they have, that ordinary compassion clubs don't.

Here's the contact info from the page.

If all of their Designated growers (they could have 10 of em "waiting" to sign) sign up two patients each, they could technically do this legally, depending on how their growing facilities are spread out. (If it's under HC's guidelines for maximum growers to a location)

The fact they charge for the medicine in a setup like this is wrong. They can grow massive amounts more than the patients monthly requirement, which I assume they will sell on the black market.

They are taking only exemptees. They are a step above the "come in to the club with a doctor's signature", but that locks out tons of potential customers.

Considering those with an ATP can grow their herb themselves or by a DG, why would they pay street prices for it?

Health Canada has the same warnings on their site.

Yeah I know. Those warnings are the result of junk science...so it's kind of weird to see them on this org's website?

I dunno. Something just doesn't seem right on this one. I'm not about to call them and ask 20 questions. I was just kinda curious to hear if anyone else had seen it or heard of it. maybe I'll fire off an e-mail. The vague language and kowtowing though just...I dunno...doesn't feel right.

Cheers
