"If you buy equipment or software that's essentially produced by the government of another country, then you have no control over what that software or hardware might be doing that you can't see," said Prof. David Skillicorn at the school of computing at Queen's University in Kingston, Ont.

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/story/2012/05/16/f-huawei-security.html

so the question remains why get involved with a chinese corporation that other G8 countries eschew due to security risks?
why compromise our telecommunications and more? sure as shit did not create many jobs, certainly does not fit the economic stimulus?

The Harper government's own Department of Public Safety warned more than a year ago that Canada's telecommunications network is too important to be left to foreign companies.

http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/story/20...ity-canada.html

i cited from this article in a previous post too. but the slurpin pirates have no shame, accept no accountability and assume that divine intervention will remove any obstacle.

In their letter, the health associations take issue with the government’s contention that the cuts will save money, arguing that the acute medical needs resulting from the lack of preventive care will end up costing the government far more in hospitalizations and medications.

save a little now but spend a mountain later, good conservative logic here: shift more of the cost to the provinces, is all.

The Experimental Lakes Area has developed environmental stewardship strategies since the mid-1960s, serving as a dedicated research facility for ecosystem-scale experiments and long-term monitoring of human activity on ecosystems.

In one polling division, both the deputy returning officer and the polling clerk vouched for more than one voter who showed up without ID, something that, as Elections Canada employees, they should have known was illegal.

time for the GG to chime in? naw, he's hardcore harperite.

“If the Conservatives really want to get to the bottom of the robocalls scandal, they would be keen to have these cases heard and decided. Instead, they are bringing entirely meritless motions to prevent that from happening,” executive director Garry Neil said in a statement.

http://www.thespec.com/news/canada/artic...lection-results

what i find vexatious: worrisome, annoying and frustrating is the tories utter lack of accountability. their defiant motions and noncompliance suggests their true nature. they stole the election, have hijacked democracy and we'll need to scrutinize enough ridings to determine whether more by-elections could topple the balance of power to the NDP. Wouldn't that be grand!!!

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmonton/story/2012/05/22/edmonton-rcmp-sexual-misconduct-ray.html

another mountie-sexual-predator busted, demoted then sent to some backwater BC town. why was he not fired, if not for the sexual escapades at workplace, then for sexual harassment; or for manipulating the resumes of prospects?

if this scenario existed in civilian workplace any perpetrator would be fired immediately, not suspended with full pay and benefits and likely arrested and jailed.

Who in this cop's new jurisdiction could trust him with evidence when he so readily consented to alter application documents for prospects for a blow job? bad cops are everywhere and once they're identified why aren't they fired? DESPICABLE!

"We want to make sure that the effect on the economy is being brought to people's attention and that we're keeping it in mind as it proceeds."

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montreal/story/2012/05/23/canadian-pacific-strike.html

has nothing to do with the economy, that is the drape used to dismantle more unionised worker rights to strike. raitt has struck yet again, time for the gang-plank!

“Senior managers are aware of the behaviour that led to his discipline and will be monitoring him closely to ensure that the disciplinary measures are having the desired effect and the offending behaviour does not recur,” Vermeulen said.

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-co...r-transfer.html

sexual behaviour is nearly impossible to modify, as can be evidenced by the rates of recidivism. Constable Don Ray will make more headlines. disgraceful that the MOJ does nothing to these bad cops or their enablers.

"The average Canadian who may have lost their job during the recession would be shocked to learn that civil servants, when they quit or choose to retire to their gold-plated pension, we as taxpayers give them a nice big fat [severance] cheque," he said.
