I read that it can take excess of 8 days for roots to show when cloning. I am on day 7 and am concerned that im not doing it in the best environment.I have them 4 foot away from my 400w duel spectrum ,I cant get the dome on the clones because of heat issues .Should I put them under my 200w cfl so I can get the dome on?

PS using root it cubes and clonex rooting gel for clones

Loc: ur moms asshole
i would go to your 200 to put the dome on, 4 feet away from a 400w it not getting anything from it, the lumens exponentially deteriorate as ur get further from the light as seen in this chart below

u need the humidity of the dome too. but thats just my 2 cents.

Thanks for reply Fera .I read that at this stage you don`t want too much light (lumens) until roots show but how much is not too much , I don`t know. Im thinking they will pop roots soon just don`t have time to wait . After checking with tape the distance between light and cuttings is 30 inches laugh ,my estimate was good 4 foot lol

Heat sound like your issue not light.

Thos little ones only need minimal light for rooting. Mine are set off to the side with no direct light. You mentioned heat issues, your dome should be 75-80 max and the root zone even cooler.

Get it out of the heat and put it somewhere at room temp with a little cfl 50 watts or so and you should be fine. As for the dome it should only be on them for the first couple of days then it slowly comes off to harden them up.

You can thank nut for a lot of this he helped me solve a lot of my issues and they all were due to HEAT!!!!

Good luck man.

I was thinking heat was the problem .I have two sets of cuttings now ,the 8 day ones and took more 4 days ago .They all look healthy without any drooping with dome off so think its just heat slowing things down .I have moved them down to corner where its nice and cool 70-75 .I was reading about heated propagators so was thinking cold would slow things down more than heat (to a extent).

Anyway thanks for advice Ganga/nut ,im more confident with growing but this is my first attempt at cloning so its all new to me .After a few runs at it ill get more aware of whats going on peace

You could root em under an incandescent bulb. Once they had roots they wouldn't last long. Just saying, light ain't a big issue. I don' t think I helped Ganga all that much. But thank you Sir!!!
