Thank you SB, GW And Gbuds I am very excited for this season even with the super late start.

I am looking for an organic foliar spray to keep bugs off(esp during the flower stage aka Caterpillars) anyone have any products or suggestions for me to start looking into? I used "Bug off" by fox farm few years ago... didn't like it one bit.

TBR, if you are talking about the green worms that attack the budz late summer, the best thing for those is a bug zapper. Kill the moths and the worms don't eat the plants. After the worms severely damaged my Amazon in 2010 that's what I did and no worm problems last year. If you want a good foliar spray use a compost tea and dilute it, best folier spray, keeps the bugs away and feeds the plants. DONT USE ON BUDS!!!!!

Sorry for the late replay Gbuds - my point about the soil was building the nutrient content in the soil starting in the fall and by summer, the soil will be humming. Adding a quality compost, one which steams when turned, will add enough nutrients and allow the soil to begin working. The real effects can be witnessed the second and third years - if you use the same spot twice wink sorry for any confusion. This is a thread I will be watching..great job.

Pretty sure he is growing in containers.

I suppose one could make a plot just for creating soil for containers and "harvesting" some of the soil every year. Then add back the stuff from the containers after harvest. One could also grow crops on the plot specifically for their nutrient adding capabilities while your mj grows in containers elsewhere.

But, yeah, the JAWS Mix is not for creating outdoor gardens. Tho, I am sure that if one dug a hole and filled it with the mix, it would work just fine.

TBR,

Everything's coming along nicely! Looks like they're about ready for a bigger pot!

As far as pest repellent, I have had excellent luck with Neem oil. I know you said something to use when they're already budding... and I can't think of anything suitable for that. But if you use neem religiously up until flowers began to show, I find it sticks around and continues to work.

I get my neem from a local farmer who extracts it himself from his neem trees. It's a raw oil, translucent and quite viscous. I mix it about 1 : 5 Neem : water. That's a strong mix though. It's important to remember that it is an oil, and it will burn the plants if they're sprayed first thing in the morning and left in direct, intense sunlight. My solution is to spray in the evening, after the hours of most intense sun are past. You could always back the concentration off as well, 1 : 10 Neem : Water is still affective.

Also remember to shake the hell out of your diluted mixture as the neem will not emulsify into the water completely.

Best of luck! I'm definitely keeping an eye on this one.
