Vaporizer Left-Overs & Oil Extraction

Does anyone have experience of using vaporizer left-overs (herb after it has been vaped, vap-poo) and extract oil from it? I'm specifically looking at picking up a Honey-bee extractor HoneyBee Extractor YouTube and using it to make oil from my saved up vaporizer left-overs. Is this even worth trying with vaporizer left-overs? Is this oil extracting method cool or nasty? I've read that solvent extraction methods are not advised.

As mentioned, it will depend on how 'spent' you get your vape poo by the color of it when finished.
Sessions I've done where I cut off early (when flavor has diminished), I keep for extracting (for those 'wanna play' times). And when I do, I prefer bho rather than qwiso simply because of the non polar solvent not picking up that 'earthy' taste of spent goods.
If my session is for couch-lock, I take the temp higher and longer which leaves the vape poo just that... POO ! (no green left at all and an even tan to dark brown). That, I throw away in the compost.
The thing to keep in mind is that your return will not be anywhere near the qty or flavor compared to using un-used bud or leaf. So, you'll need to judge for yourself the risks, expense, and time for the return against other options.
I suggest that you look into a glass specific extractor tube, or get a stainless steel turkey baster (cheap) to run bho. I also suggest you read up A LOT about the safety measures and procedure.
I hated the honey bee unit, and many I know that originally bought it did as well and have moved on to a better vessel.

Thank you all who replied! I am using a hot box & magic flight launch box vaporizers. Neither allows for a temperature setting but I can attest that each unit works well. With each, herb is left toasted but on the green side of vaporizing I think. I am going to try extracting from my left over vaporizer herb but I think (with your feedback) I will try something other that the honey-bee. I'll update on what I eventually end up using and my results. Thanks again!! Awesome feedback. TMS

I tried it. The first time I have ever tried this but here are my results, I tried extracting oil from my left-over vapourizer herb (sometimes called Vapourizer Poo) yesterday. I had 11 grams of vapourizer left-overs. Here's a photo so you can see the consistency of the stuff. Well used but not fully cooked. Vaped Herb I used a Honeybee extractor. It was the best option for me due to availability and I didn't even know if this would work, cheapest "try" option. Extractor & Butane I used 1 can of butane. Butane Boiling Off Residue in the Bowl The hardest part of this whole experiment was scraping the bowl to get it all. The bottom of the bowl was relatively easy using a utility knife blade and pliers. Scaping the sides and curves of the bowl was a bitch. There should be a special set off tools available for doing this (Ha,ha). The product was honey colour in the bowl but by the time it was dripped (no, I didn't burn it) into the final resting place it ended up pretty dark. At last, I had only about a 1/4 gram. Home Made Oil The final stuff tastes like oil I have had in the past (perhaps even a bit better) so I am wondering if the bad taste that I expected from using used vapourizer herb is not transferred during the extraction process. Also, this stuff gets the job done with flying colour in the "why we all smoke it" department. Was it all worth it? In this case after spending tons of time weilding a razor sharp blade trying to scape that bowl and only getting a very small amount of final product, I have to say no. But, next time, if I have more (at least 3 times) the amount of left-overs and I can come up with a better bowl scraping method, it may be. Open to feedback. MS.

Not at all bad for spent stuff really. And whether YOU like it, is all that matters in the end. The only thing I'd say is one thing I would have done was to use a coffee filter over the end since both the honey bee screen is too large and the extractor itself too large in diameter so you end up using too much butane. It may have provided a slightly 'cleaner' and potent end product (albeit even smaller) and avoided any matter contaminant. I'd search out a stainless steel turkey baster due to its smaller diameter and use of coffee filters. You'll get a more thorough wash and only use a 1/2 can of butane for approx 10g. Now that you have a run under your belt, you will fine tune your skills/process and only get better each time. Just wait till you run some bud 'cause THAT is some sweet tasting and heavy hitting chit bro Enjoy your goods, as much as your time playing mad scientist, hehe. Just don't get sloppy/lazy on safety mindedness down the road with this volatile stuff please. PEACE
