Hey guys,

I'd like to take the time to discuss a common problem I see on CC forums, etc: someone new to a city that is trying to find weed.

I see a lot of posts where people go about it all wrong by posting "WHERE CAN I FIND WEED IN ____?" and then see pages of people flaming them, but I notice a solution to these people's issues are rare, although in my example their approach is all wrong.

Before I continue I wanted to make it clear that I COMPLETELY AGREE with the forums policies of not being a place to score/sell weed: this puts the forums and users at risk, which is completely unfair.

What I intend with this thread is to provide a resource to people and myself (just moved to a new city myself) to find safe ways to find good, reasonably-priced, safe weed in a new city, without putting themselves, local headshops, the CC forum and it's members at risk.

Problems:
1) People want weed in a new city. = Fair enough
2) The CC forums rules prohibit selling/looking for weed (which I completely agree with). = BAD
3) The CC forums members don't want to be at risk. = BAD
4) A person looking for weed could hit the streets and get mugged, or ripped off. = BAD
5) A person could ask a local head shop or cafe, putting the Cafe at risk. = BAD

After listing these items in my head, I started thinking: Before I moved to this new city, how did I find weed in my hometown? How did I find it so easily? Maybe how I found it in my hometown applies here: sadly, it does not.

I started smoking weed as many people did, in my teenage years in my hometown I grew up in. All of a sudden around age 12-14 or so, people started smoking weed, and as I started to smoke it, some of the same friends smoking it with me started selling it, or knew guys to get some from. Our friends would discuss who had better stuff, who had bad stuff, and as years past we found ourselves with some of the best weed in town, fairly effortlessly.

Now fast forward to someone who has left their hometown (like myself) who is now looking for some comparable weed: the options are not so effortless.

Assuming you don't know anyone who smokes, here are the options I can see:

1) Go ask around in a pot-friendly and likely bad part of town - Get ripped off, get bad stuff, get mugged, etc. Another issue here is quantity, you won't find say anything like an Oz on the street - if you find anything, you're getting dimebags at $10/gram, regardless of what you're getting.
2) Go ask a head shop - They'll lose it at you for putting them at risk, as they should.
3) Go ask people on a forum - Same thing.
4) Ask someone at work - risk getting fired, etc.

After some thought, I figured this is just one of those problems that can't really be easily solved, but I wanted to gather some ideas from the forums on how they'd go about finding weed in a new city safely (for them and others).

As I mentioned, the people straight-up asking for connections on the forums are going about it all wrong, but I think it would be valuable to point them at an article catering to their problem, whether or not it can easily be solved vs just getting angry at them, and forcing them to turn to more unsafe options, etc. People make dumb mistakes, but the base need is still valid: good, safe, affordable weed.

As a side note, although I mention that I just moved to a new city as well and am facing these issues myself, I DO NOT want people to reach out through this forum to help me out specifically. This post is about the problem in general, and is intended as a resource to all, and not to just solve my problem selfishly.

I'd like to go about this the safe way, as I am hoping this thread can discuss. I hope everyone understands that I am trying to be as helpful and as harmless as possible.

Growing is always an option, yeah. Not enough room or skill for that one in my case, but that can be a good option for some.

Take a few taxis ask the drivers.

Interesting thread newera. I'm having the same problem.

I've hit the streets before. It worked out the first time, but the next two times I got ripped off, naturally. Thankfully, it was only $20 each time but it was a sketchy and really unsavoury experience. I've since stopped that approach.

I've also done the classifieds on a "famous site" approach with better success but prices are usually whack and also incredibly sketchy people.

I'm curious to others' experiences.

Oh, I feel your pain, and I wish I had some advice...

I have also had a terrible time, after moving here, finding good stuff. It's been an extremely depressing experience. Especially since I'd heard such wonderful things about the pot here- well, it may be great, but I can't find it. There's also the fact that I'm female, which makes it harder, since you have to worry more about getting robbed or ripped off. And English. So that sucks, too. I've gone from smoking daily to suffering terrible insomnia now at night- I miss my pot!

So needless to say I'll be studying this thread with interest. I am really genuinely curious as to how others fare in new cities. I could offer advice about where to look in certain Maritime cities, but I see that you're on the West Coast...

I have never had a hard time looking for weed in a strange city just be where the cool folks are.

Hang out at the local TACO BELL from 10:00-12:00 PM?
