I don't forget that. Its a major reason I have been working for legalization for a decade. Abortion is a CHOICE. So is breaking the law. Plenty of minority citizens do not choose the easy road of criminal behavior, and instead have degrees and good jobs. Most of the black people in my family, are those ones. Sure, its a disgrace that 80% of the people using drugs are white and 59% in prison for drugs are black. But its not going to be a better society if our judicial system reflects our populations. It will be better when our criminal system no longer arrests and incarcerates our citizens for the substances they freely choose to ingest. My first reply was sarcastic. This one is very much NOT.

I come from Detroit area, and racism today might be institutionalized, its nothing compared to what it was when I was a kid in the 60s. My wife is a person of color, and both sides of the family support our lives. None of our family or co workers give a shit what race we are, separate or together, and that's because we are both middle class. That's a huge change from the past you are living in.
