Hello forum, I am a 23 year old male from Ireland and I was diagnosed with Crohn's at 19 years old after months of severe stomach pains and rapid weight loss. It was instantly a life changer as I was always very active and loved to socialise(code for party alot).
I have been on many different meds for the past 4 years but unfortunately still had to have surgery almost 2 months ago to have part of my lower intestine removed so now im on mesalamine to!

Crohn's has pretty much uprooted my entire life as I had a house and life of my own on the other side of the country. Im now back living with my parents and probably will be for quite some time.
I have been smoking Marijuana since I was 14 years old and since the diagnosis found it has been a brilliant quick fix for cramps and pains, also great as I have trouble sleeping. But now since the surgery I am pretty much housebound so I am without a way to smoke as marijuana is illegal here even medicinally and since I am now on the complete opposite side of the country I cant buy it anymore from my original source.
Sucks to be in a country with no medicinal marijuana, doesn't look like it will be legalised here anytime soon either!

My brothers girlfriends father has Chron's disease and has an enlarged heart(an effect from a prior experimental Chron's treatment). Since he has an enlarged heart and his heartbeat is slow, he is afraid to smoke Cannabis for fear of his heart slowing down drastically. Is there any truth to this? Should he not medicate with Cannabis?

He doesn't have to smoke it he could eat it, put a bud in some tea, make budder, many other avenues of consumption than smoke. Jus a thought, try CBD caps.

My sister had ulcerated colitus ; until they removed her large intestine. Now, she has a colostomy bag. It is sad that she never smoked pot for her discomfort. Dad died from colon cancer, and I couldn't get him to smoke during chemo. Out of fear of me getting arrested for it trying to supply him. Myself I toke as much as possible. Especially after a colonscopy at 34 that found several polyps in my colon. We have to strive everyday if not for full legalisation, then for schedule 2 (Medicinal). Too many people are dying in our country everyday when the medicine grows all around us! hattoke

hey all, reading a lot of great posts. I have temporal lobe epilepsy and do qualify under category one for health canada. heres a great list for those who qualify.....hope it helps

The regulations outline two categories of people who can apply to possess marihuana for medical purposes.

Category 1: This category is comprised of any symptoms treated within the context of providing compassionate end-of-life care; or the symptoms associated with the specified medical conditions listed in the schedule to the Regulations, namely:

* Severe pain and/or persistent muscle spasms from multiple sclerosis;
* Severe pain and/or persistent muscle spasms from a spinal cord injury;
* Severe pain and/or persistent muscle spasms from spinal cord disease;
* Severe pain, cachexia, anorexia, weight loss, and/or severe nausea from cancer;
* Severe pain, cachexia, anorexia, weight loss, and/or severe nausea from HIV/AIDS infection;
* Severe pain from severe forms of arthritis; or
* Seizures from epilepsy.
Applicants must provide a declaration from a medical practitioner to support their application.

Category 2: This category is for applicants who have debilitating symptom (s) of medical condition (s), other than those described in Category 1. Under Category 2, persons with debilitating symptoms can apply to obtain an Authorization to Possess dried marihuana for medical purposes, if a specialist confirms the diagnosis and that conventional treatments have failed or judged inappropriate to relieve symptoms of the medical condition. While an assessment of the applicant's case by a specialist is required, the treating physician, whether or not a specialist, can sign the medical declaration.

This may be a path that leads you in a direction that offers support and alternatives. The Compassionate Friends Club (T.C.F.C.)
It's a club that offers friendship, understanding, compassion, resources, and important up-to-date information to people who are suffering from chronic pain or a terminal disease. There is no religious affiliation. There are no membership fees or dues.

The Club is about showing compassion. It's about utilizing our spiritual compass that allows us to help someone rather than belittle them when they are down. Because whether you agree or disagree, we're really all in this together. Therefore, our mission as a spiritual being is not to step on anyone when they are down, but to lend a hand to lift them up.

Being in severe pain causes our families to suffer as well, a pain that can best be understood fully by another person who is suffering, or by their closest family members or friends, their hearts are suffering because they feel a certain amount of helplessness, they suffer emotionally.

As our own pain subsides, we know that the people suffering physically need caring, love and support, we reach out to those who still feel alone and abandoned.

The Club is welcoming new members at this time. You must be recommended by someone who is already a member or by Invitation only. You must be 18 years of age or older.
Visit the website at: www.compassionatefriendsclub.com

Take care all,
Stopthepain xo

Hello anyone with chron's IBS or spastic colon, Diet is very important in controling the symptoms. One of the things that might help is to do a lot of green veggie juices.. or take Barley grass or wheat grass juice. It comes in capsules if you don't like the taste of the juices The chlorophyll is very calming to the system... also using a high quality/content probiotic. Aloe is also calming to the gut. With these conditions, people are given a lot of antibiotics, steroids etc. all disturb/destroy the natural flora of the digestive system and also set up candida infections. Diflucan or nystatin help combat this. It is also important to not provide inflammatory kinds of foods.... getting off a lot of carbs ( most of everything white..flour, breads etc) and most especially sugars. It is also a possibility that there is gluten intolerance that is triggering the problems They all feed fungus/candida. Go to a health food store and look up in their books the relation of these conditions and candida. The docs aren't trained in nutrition and the response to the body. Nor do they usually order concommittant antifungals ( diflucan, nystatin) when they prescribe antibiotics. Digestive enzymes along with the probiotics are very helpful to get the most of your nutrition from your foods. They also replace the good bacteria needed for digestion and relief of symptomw. Doug Kauffman has a program "Know the Cause". You can look up on youtube or google it. I am a nurse and a health minister through Hallelujah Acres. I'm tryng to get MMJ for treating breast cancer... but also know the relation to cancer and fungus. There are natural antibiotics that can also be used. Grapefruit extract, oliveleaf extract, oil of oregano, colloidal silver... to name a few...these are natural things that you can use... Veggie juices feed the body at the cellular level. Cooked veggies/foods have lost their enzymes and water soluble vitamins...I know the fiber in raw foods are hard to handle for these conditions, so juicing is better. When the gut clalms down, then increasing fiber is very important. I send blessings to you all an hope that this helps. nannalil

I was diagnosed in 2003 with Crohn's and like you, I've tried many medications and I live in New-Brunswick. I've tried Imuran, Prednisone, Salofalk, Entocort, Remicade...etc I'm currently on Remicade and it's not working well anymore, it's only a matter of time before it stops completely. I am waiting to try concentrated hemp oil which contains a lot of cannabinoids.

I haven't procured some oil yet but within 4 months I should be able to try and see if it works. I'm a severe Crohn's case so if it works for me, it should work for you also. BTW stop apologizing, you're English is perfectly fine and so is your spelling.. Hope this finds you well.

I have Ulcerative Colitis and I've tried Imuran, Prednisone, Pentasa (Oral, and other means >_>), and they all don't seem to be helping anymore... Pretty sure my next step is Remicade, and I'm really not interested...
I've been trying to find a specialist that will at least let me TRY the Medical Marijuana route, but it seems like I'm shoved off all the time.
My family doctor also said that it wouldn't help in anyways, and I know that's not true....
If anyone has info on a Gastroenterologist that would be willing to prescribe, I'm all ears!
