I have slacked on my growing lately but I have made the decision to start back up growing only a few plants to get the hang of it again. I'm at work right now, bored so I thought I'd start the thread.
I picked up a bag of Schultz potting mix and a bag of bone meal. I also have a bag of 'cocoa earth stuff'.
What I'm wondering is this:
What, if any combination would be best?
I was thinking the potting mix an dry earth for seedlings/veg and then mix in blood meal for flowering.
I realize its a rookie question but I've never mixed things for a soil. Just miracle grow in a pot and bam. I had little plants.

I wanted to post to welcome you back to gardening, and kudos to you for trying to do it properly by staying away from miracle grow, aka miracle crap.

Be careful adding anything to your media when the plantlets are tiny - very easy to burn the little suckers. I always recommend ProMix as a good start.

I have a bag of bone meal. Again, rookie question, but is it fine to use the bone meal w the potting mix and cocoa earth? Or should I get blood meal?

Thanks for the welcome back krimzon, I appreciate it and will try me best to get back into the swing of things.

Ill probably mix the stuff together this weekend when I have some time off work, is there any suggestions on a decent ratio to mix them together?

Bone meal and blood meal can mixed in at 1 teaspoon/gallon of medium. You can mix it that way and use it from start to finish.

Where can I purchase worm castings and kelp meal? Do they sell its at Walmart or do I need to go to a growshop for that?

Be careful adding blood meal to your media if it to be used to seedlings. I just learned a painful lesson by killing off a dozen little plants by doing just that - in a moment of insanity I thought 'hey, let's try something'... idiot!

If the plants are just starting out, add NOTHING to your basal media, e.g. Promix or Progro. Both have a low concentration of NPK to get things growing without adding anything else.
