Just curious... Why do you want to make one? Just to gain experience or are you low on cash?

I don't trust myself making a carbon filter, the quality control just wouldn't be the same. I use Phresh filters and change mine once a year. They last at least 2-2.5 years but I like to make sure mine does not lose ANY efficacy. I can't afford to have any smell seeping past my room. Trust me man, Phresh filters are the way to go! NOTHING gets past a Phresh filter. They're made using RC-48 virgin australian carbon that has been triple steam activated. They just work period and are the only brand I trust or recommend.

Peace, E1

back in the day, I used to make carbon filters but today, they are much cheaper than they were then and it is just as cheap to buy one on ebay as to make one and it will be much better.

Making your own carbon filter is a trivial thing, costing much less than purchasing a commercial unit. Google diy carbon filters; there are many good examples on how to make one, nothing complicated about it. smile

Good luck.

Reb said it right, by the time you pick up all the shit to do it right, you could buy one. Not to mention the time and effort involved.

But if your into tinkerin then like DB states they are quite easy to make.

Carbon filters are great but not foolproof so be careful and keep on sniffing.

Humidity plays a huge role in how good carbon works and they can only handle so much stink. Thats where an ozonator comes in.
