i think, and sir ganj brought up some facts about the matter, that plants are intellectual creations. and anything with intelect has possibility, thats my thoughts.

Both Ganja and doobie have valid points, Plants are not intellectual, they will never do math etc. However, plants can and do make decisions daily, which suggest at least a form of awareness, with that being said, they are self aware, and aware of their environments, every single aspect.
For all we know the only difference between 2 similar plants (say the fern family) is one has a different set of background noises, such as indigenous wildlife.
Now I'm not saying that the likelyhood that the only difference is sound is real, but to ignore it as one of the potential factors is IMO just what ignoring things makes people. I personally believe anything is possible unless fact dictate otherwise, and even then, because what we consider to be facts today, might not remain factual 10-20 years from now when we make new discoveries that renders our previous understandings moot.

Phar, you may be confusing environmental stimuli and reactions with self-awareness and choice. I'd be interested to know how plants make a decision. 'Suggesting' a level of awareness is not even close to proving that plants have cognitive powers! Then you say something to the effect that anything is possible, even if facts prove otherwise, because all knowledge is transitory, that is, may change over time. While that may be so for theoretical particle physics, something as studied and tested as this whole 'plants with feelings' issue has been beaten down to where it is considered to be logical, fact, whatever you call a 'truth'. Will scientists make more discoveries tomorrow ? I hope so, but will that include proving plants are intelligent ? Not very likely...

Like Doobie said. Plants do not make decisions, they react to their environments i.e. X environmental factor causes Y plant chemical signal to happen which causes a plant to flower, bend towards a light source, loose turgor, make fruit, etc. Decision making is more characteristic to metazoans and is even more specific to only include certain species. Does the link work on my last post in this thread? It ought to clear things up if you or anyone interested reads it.
