So if you paid the $400 fee, and they have your medical records, are you potentially in any kind of trouble? I really hope not guys. I feel bad for every patient.

He's also my MMAR Doctor, this is absurd. They have no legal right to handle my medical files at all, or anyone else not related to what they were after.

I for one would like to see that Warrant.

I heard two things about that doctor. 1) someone forged a signature alerting police, 2) he was giving very large daily gram limits. But thats just stuff I read nothing official. Since its an on going investigation, they are not saying much. But the fact that he isnt charged with anything really just looks like they are trying to send a message and scare people.

Welcome to the new and improved police state, also known as Canada. Goes to show that the law is only there for when they see fit. Makes me really wonder about the legal system. I know if I ran into some office and grabbed all the files, depending on the establishment, would go to prison for a very long time. Yet somehow they are allowed to break the law. Hope the Doctor has a good lawyer. Also anyone that has this doctor should seek legal counsel and report this to the right officials asap. Just my 2 cents!

Have any of you seen a lawyer about it yet? Im curious what he would have to say. I mean the only thing I wonder about is the fact that he charged $400 or whatever, and people got mmar approved. Is that legal? Its not like people have much choice, MOST doctors wont approve you so your not left with much options to get mmar approved. I feel really bad for these people.

Doesn't matter how much he charged. The fact of the matter that i'm getting at is the police in no way are allowed private medical records. Those are for the Doctor and Patients eyes only. They have no grounds to seize or look through those files. It would be no different than the police coming into my home to look around till they find something they can charge me with, W/o probable cause. Anyone that used that doctor to get their license better contact legal aid asap if you want your records to hopefully be kept private. If you think about it, anyone on file for medical just got made by the police. Sounds like the start of a sting to help fill our new super prisons. Just my own thoughts, but i'd be covering my back forsure!!

Can a group of you not sue on the grounds they are going through your medical records illegally?

I sent a letter to my lawyer Ill see what he says. Group idea is a great idea, united I think its a stronger situation. But I wonder what they where looking for? Did they think the doctor was just handing out mmar for everyone that paid? Is there something illegal there?

Your contract is with the Doctor and he would be the target of any legal action. The Police, on the other hand, can gather whatever information they need for their investigation (yeah, I know, it sucks). I think that there is no way to take legal action to protect your information, but see what your attorneys say, and I would hope you have recourse.

whats the point of taking patient records, they cant raid the houses they are all legal?
