IMO, nothing works as well for soil/soilless as hypoaspis miles. They multiply when gnat numbers increase. I have used them with awesome results. I have never tried dunks or the covering the soil. I have read plenty about the dunks working, and I have even read of the covering the soil thing working. I have also read plenty of stories of covering the soil not working so well. Personally, I am one for using sure things when dealing with problems in the grow room. Experiments are fine and all, if you can deal with the possible loss of crop and time to get things under control afterwards. Then there is the time to get a new crop up and running.

The other thing about fungus gnats is that they need moisture. Making sure that your plants dry out properly between waterings is the one of the best things you can do to prevent/help deal with gnats.

Thanks for the info. Gbuds. I had gnat probs my last grow and haven't tried any of these, but rest assured I will be trying the hypoaspis when I need to.

Good advice, thanks GBuds.

Let's not forget the good old hunt out and squish method. Every time I check on any potted plant indoors I pick up the pot and give it a couple spanks(gentle spanks). If any fungus gnats are there they will flutter off of the soil and become easy targets. Also, a fan rushing air right over the soil level is a great deterrent for the little bastards.

Good luck smile

That stuff rocks, but is a bit expensive (at least here it is). I 've alson used diatomaceous earth with good results.
