OK I was having a small fungus knat problem, before I switched to organics. I was treating with mosquito dunks and knot seeing very many, and after I mixed soil with earth worm castings, guanno, and kelp, I'm not seeing any even when I move the pots around. does this seem right, is it the worm castings or the mosquito dunks, either way I'm going to treat again with mosquito dunks

mosquito dunks is BTI which is organic. Don't know what it'll do to soil micro-life though, but should destroy the sciarid larvae.

from what I've heard is that you, have to put about an inch on the top soil. It will kill them, by cutting them when they try to dig in. Read that blackstrap molasses, is a natural bug deterant might try that, also really good micro nutes.

The DE only works when it's dry. If your pots are in trays water from the bottom to keep the surface dry. A half inch of DE is enough but pile it up around the stalks as the young like to climb up to set off in flight.

Stops any other bugs that like to move up and down the plant too.

It's effective as a foliar spray against mites and thrips too. A Tbsp in a cup of water sprayed all over the problem areas will greatly reduce the populations. Should leave a very visible powdery layer all over. Especially the undersides of the leaves.

The dust is not for breathing so take care. What it does to those bugs it kills it does to your breathing apparatus as well!

(Slices little teeny holes in things and makes them leak)

It also absorbs oils like crazy so wear gloves if you need to handle a lot.

I got a 30lb bag of feed grade 10 years ago and it's great stuff! Surround an ant hill with it and it goes away.

Mix it in with your soil grows for natural silica and other minerals. Totally organic too.

peace

Predator Nematodes IMO - Your Local Hydro store should have a hook on an overnight shipping company. If not, check out "Nature's Control" on google.

So what happens to the nemotoads, after they eat the larve of the fugus knats, do they go after the plants.
