The DE only works when it's dry. If your pots are in trays water from the bottom to keep the surface dry. A half inch of DE is enough but pile it up around the stalks as the young like to climb up to set off in flight. Stops any other bugs that like to move up and down the plant too. It's effective as a foliar spray against mites and thrips too. A Tbsp in a cup of water sprayed all over the problem areas will greatly reduce the populations. Should leave a very visible powdery layer all over. Especially the undersides of the leaves. The dust is not for breathing so take care. What it does to those bugs it kills it does to your breathing apparatus as well! (Slices little teeny holes in things and makes them leak) It also absorbs oils like crazy so wear gloves if you need to handle a lot. I got a 30lb bag of feed grade 10 years ago and it's great stuff! Surround an ant hill with it and it goes away. Mix it in with your soil grows for natural silica and other minerals. Totally organic too.
