I'm still using the Hygrozyme - SubCulture - Molasses combo. So far everything is great.

I can't say that everything would be just as great without the beneficial orgs, though. This has been my only grow. I went along with this because I can imagine a beneficial upside and I didn't see a downside and cost was not significant.

If you could just go to your County Agricultural Agent with these questions and get a straight answer!!
Oh, but that would require the racist cocksuckers to get thier heads out of thier ASSES.

I'll second your belief on hygrozyme being crap, I used it once in a setup I was 99% sure was lightproof, a week later it was loaded with algae, switched to an entire different setup and used the max amount it says to use and a week later a crap ton of algae and root rot. I scrapped the whole rubbermaid bin setup b/c dealing with 19 gallons for 2 plants is a PITA and waste of nutes so I switched to 2 bubble buckets, maxed out the hygrozyme and same crap, algae in like 3 days. I finally said screw it and got some sensizyme, sterilized the bubble buckets and 8 hours after a rez change I can see a lot of the brown slime that was on the roots is gone, new white roots growing and a bubbly foam at the top where the sensizym is breaking down the root rot slime...

One thing about the hygrozyme is that it's compatible with h202 where as cannazyme and sensizyme aren't, although I already had root rot going and felt sensizyme was a better option to break down the dead root material and make it beneficial.

Hygrozyme is not a total cure. You're judging it too harshly, and it certainly isn't crap. It does not prevent bad microbes, it simply assists with the breakdown of dead materials. It will not treat and inoculate against algae.

A favorable micro biotic cocktail like SubCulture combined with Hygrozyme works really well.

My problem with hygrozyme is that it says that it breaks down dead root mass using enzymes, when actually it dosnt do this. So what does it do? In my opinion nothing. There are better products that do more. It's about economics

RRog is right, your alage problem can be solved by inoculating with good microbes.

What gives you the impression it does not assist with the breakdown?

I guess I should retract a statment and clairify. Hygrozyme does assist in "breaking down" dead root mass and stimulating living roots however a diverse microbe inoculante does the same thing in slightly different way, so while using both products isn't bad it is redundent. Hygrozyme could be put to better use in a sterile hydro system

Spliff,

Thanks a lot. Don't take this the wrong way, but where do you get your facts from? How do you know that there is a redundancy?

I'm grateful for your input and thoughts. And I am not at all arguing. I like to know where the facts come from is all.

As a side note, I am inclined to agree with you on the redundancy and would pull the Hygrozyme plug. It's just that it has worked well so far

It's all good RRog, I felt like I did make a sweeping statment without clarification.

The one thing I do know is that I still have lots to learn even after years of growing. The person that has given me direction with nutes and other grow advice has been in the hydroponics idustry for many years, he works very closly with the chemist of a paticular company helping to formulate nutes, and knows a TON about almost every nute company out there. So I guess my info comes from the directions he steers me in and my own personal experience.

My goal in growing is to produce the best quality flowers at the lowest price possible, even though a grow op is a large investment I want to keep long term costs down
