I'll second your belief on hygrozyme being crap, I used it once in a setup I was 99% sure was lightproof, a week later it was loaded with algae, switched to an entire different setup and used the max amount it says to use and a week later a crap ton of algae and root rot. I scrapped the whole rubbermaid bin setup b/c dealing with 19 gallons for 2 plants is a PITA and waste of nutes so I switched to 2 bubble buckets, maxed out the hygrozyme and same crap, algae in like 3 days. I finally said screw it and got some sensizyme, sterilized the bubble buckets and 8 hours after a rez change I can see a lot of the brown slime that was on the roots is gone, new white roots growing and a bubbly foam at the top where the sensizym is breaking down the root rot slime...
One thing about the hygrozyme is that it's compatible with h202 where as cannazyme and sensizyme aren't, although I already had root rot going and felt sensizyme was a better option to break down the dead root material and make it beneficial.
