So, importing more oil still seems nonsensical.

That would've made more sense.

Sorry I may be misunderstanding the figures, but the infoplease url, ABC news url,Arab news url and the factmonster url say the U.S is the 3rd highest producer. And, the consumer energy report is stating sources for U.S oil. So we wouldn't appear on that list anyway.

With all that being said, it would make sense that fuel prices should already be cheap(er). So importing more oil still doesn't make sense to me. Fuel production aside, there is lot of development to replace plastics and the like that are also derived from oil.

And, thank you for removing the insulting stuff. I did not get a chance to read it before you edited it. But know that I appreciate it and I would much rather reasonably discuss things with you than insult each other over our difference in opinion.

O’Reilly surprised to learn U.S. gov’t. controls the military

Somehow in the mind of Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly, the United States military is not controlled by its government.

In a discussion on government involvement on health care Tuesday evening, The O’Reilly Factor suddenly had an interesting and peculiar back and forth with Alan Colmes on the government’s overall effectiveness.

“Can they run the military?” Colmes asked.

O’Reilly replied: “They can’t run the military because it’s military controlled, not civilian.”

“That’s government run, it’s still the government doing it,” Colmes countered.

“But the Pentagon calls the shots,” he said.

“But the commander-in-chief is a civilian, the government runs the military well,” Colmes insisted.

“That is wrong,” O’Reilly said. “The Pentagon calls the shots on how the military operates. The Pentagon is military people.”

“That’s the government,” Colmes said. “It’s the government, it’s still the government.”

O’Reilly concluded: “They work for and the government running it are two different things.”

Your original inquiry was regarding exporting....U were on the right track, u just got the importing figures confused with the production and export numbers..The cia lists the U.S. 3rd in production, 1st in importing 10th in exporting..We are not even in the top 20 on eia and opec lists...

Bill O'Reilly was just back tracing from being painted into a corner when Colmes made the correct call about the military as a government institution. It's that disconnect most conservatives have about loving the military, but hating any government apparatus.
