Hey guys and gals. I had a question about the poor condintion of my clones. I am growing on a small budget. I took about 10 cuttings from my mother and used a clean razor and rooting gel. I have done this before with no problems. The only thing I did different this time was use a old cookie tin with plasic wrap for a lid. So after a few days rust spots started to develope on the bottom.:( not good. So my clones are starting to turn yellow and wilt. Do you guys think I killed them with the rust ?
Thanks for the help.

I honestly doubt that physical rust on the tin can would have damaged them. Oxidized tin/aluminium/iron is fairly inactive.

I suspect there may be other issues though. If you have ten clones, and they aren't growing, pull one out and inspect it. If the stem has gone mushy, recut it and put it back in (Then repeat for the rest) If it has roots, gently put it back in and hope for the best.

If they have roots, the yellowing and/or rust colored spots could be caused by PH or nutrient level issues. I've experienced similar problems rooting in soil, I find the first set of leaves yellows, while the nitrogen is diverted into root creation, and if the PH is off you'll notice the new growth looking weird, and possibly spots on the leaves.

Not sure I understand your question. Are the rust spots on the bottom of the leaves or on the bottom of your cookie tray?

If they are on your cookie tray, it is possible that your clones are doing fine. Many times they will "yellow" temporarily before they root. Some see this as good sign as it means roots are soon to follow. You will know there are roots when the leaves start to green up again.
