Thanks for the answer Larry. I too am a working man who teaches[or tries to] his kids and grand kids to work for what they want. But I also tell them as the bible says we must care for those less fortunate than them. Now I'm not saying all Unions are good, there are unions that have been taken over by crooks, and some ran by fools, but those should be cleaned up not have all unions destroyed. A well ran union is the salvation of the working man. I lived in Europe for many years and continued to travel there and other places around the world until my accident started affecting my health. So I don't know what stories you've read but here is a FACT you can look up. As union membership rose in places like Europe etc. it has been falling in the U.S. but as their union membership grew so did their standard of living improved. During that same time, 1960's to now, our union membership fell so did our standard of living. Same for life expectancy, percent of middle class wealth, etc. What is going on in Wis. is not about deficits, the Unions said they were willing to accept all the money items in the bill but the gov. said that wasn't enough they had to give up bargaining rights. What use is a union that can not bargain? Should people be forced to join a union? NO but the so called " right to work laws don't just do that, in right to work states if two people work in a union plant, and one belongs to the union pays his dues etc but the other can say for years he won't pay union dues. But under right to work laws if he gets in trouble the union must spend their money on defending him even if it bankrupts the union and leaves no money for them to take care of the member. How's that for the right to work laws trying to bring fairness they can take your money and give it to others who spent years saying they didn't want you help. We got right to work in Okie land with them saying look at all the good paying jobs we get in state. With in a few years of getting it here are a few of the good paying jobs we lost, GM AUTO PLANT, Dayton tire plant, Phillips Petroleum headquarters, etc etc. ALL OF THEM VERY GOOD JOBS. What we got was $10 per hr. jobs with no benifits

Larry when there are no Unions there will be no one taking care of the working man, the "working man" is the taxpayer not the government employee... there is a difference between public unions and private unions...if your talking about private unions then i agree with you..its not fair when the workers work their asses off in dangerous conditions and then the fat cats keep all the money...but when taxpayers are the ones funding the salaries its a whole different ballgame...people(government employees) have no right DEMANDING more money or better benefits from other people(taxpayers)...FDR spoke in depth on the subject...
