TC, I am a working man! Just because i am my own boss and an independent "entrepreneur"(GOD! i hate trying to spell that word) doesn't mean i don't have to work. That's all i've ever known. If you want something, you must be willing to work for it. It's what i tried to teach my kids and anyone who might care to listen. I've NEVER had any union association. I don't know if i'm "middle class" (Probly lower middle class if i had to guess.) I just have seen my friends put out of work in my little town BECAUSE the union shut down a 50 yr business by their wanting mo' and mo'. That and the idea that one cannot work in some states WITHOUT joining a union, whether one wants to or not. That just don't seem right to me. As for other countries, I have some stories i have read about how things are in France (as far as workers and work). I'll have to go back and see if i can find them and get back to ya. The gist of which is how people used to "work for a living" and now it's dam near impossible to just go out and "freelance" to make money. TOO god dam many govt/union regulations. CAN'T work more than 30 hrs. CAN'T just do a fuking job for someone, Mano y Mano. That ain't right either. Greece unions, Bitching because they can't retire at 50?!?! Are you kidding me??? I have nothing against big business. As far as i'm concerned, "bidness is bidness" big or little. If one can produce wealth, as opposed to just sucking it off of those that do(service industries)more power to ya. I know unions helped people. Child labor and better working conditions and all, but, like every institution that grows and grows, it goes too far. It starts to serve it's own interests. Don't know if this is an answer to you, but it's a bit of where i'm coming from.
