A landmark court case in which two Conservative senators, the party itself, and two former Tory officials face charges of breaking election finance laws has been postponed to June 15.

this disbarred lawyer, convicted of defrauding clients, spent jail time for it but served under 3 Pirate Regimes: Mulroney, Clark, Harper. Pirates have many criminal types doing their bidding on the hill. Carson's playmate is an ex HO and her website boasted several prominent GTA police officers as clients.

“For example, over $880,000 was to be used for advocacy, training, media strategies and campaign activities here in Canada,” Ms. Oda told the committee. “I believe this is not the best way to spend public funds intended to help those living in poverty in developing countries.”

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/poli...article1947238/

Oda thought Kairos' domestic budget too small. had they wished to spend millions on fundraising, she'd have approved them. how can it be otherwise when several very visible global charities do the very same: receive federal funding & spend advertising dollars in Canada? can't be Kairos' ethics. some religious dogma, perhaps? clashes with Captain Blah's vision of women's rights abroad, there's a thought.

"unpaid federal lobbyists like Carson are not required to register; the Conflict of Interest Act contains vague rules, most of which only apply for one year after cabinet staff leave office; Ethics Commissioner Mary Dawson has always found (or created) a way to let every Conservative accused of violating the Conflict of Interest Act off the hook; Commissioner of Lobbying Karen Shepherd is sitting on dozens of cases and has let at least 16 lobbyists off the hook with secret rulings; and, the RCMP and Crown prosecutors have never charged, let alone successfully prosecuted, anyone for violatingthe Lobbying Act."

like I said, a diversion.

“Surely if . . . the Harper Conservative government has enough money — a billion dollars — for fake lakes, glow sticks, bug juice, they can find a little bit of money to help all the businesses that have lost so much during the G20 weekend.”

http://www.thestar.com/news/article/956466--business-owners-insulted-by-g20-compensation-offers?bn=1

remember there's no $$$ for poverty, none for business disruptions; no compensation for injured protesters; when G8 officials like harper get gift schwag like $400,000 books.

Think $1.26 a day.

http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/story/2011/03/18/pol-weston-ndp-budget.html

harper pirates greedily suck the government tit daily and they budget for canada's elderly less than a cup of coffee per day.

Otherwise how could Canadians support a Harper Government that is on the verge of being found in contempt of Parliament; that shut down Parliament twice merely to save its own skin; that displays the most appalling behaviour during question periods; that defies Parliamentary votes; that deliberately undermines Parliamentary committees (even publishing a secret ‘How-To’ guide for Conservative MPs); that interferes with the judiciary; that defies judicial rulings; that undermines and criticizes the civil service when it follows an apolitical course; that guts the national census; that arbitrarily exiles Canadian citizens without trial; that bans respected activists from entering the country; and that, last summer, turned the country’s largest city into a civil rights-free zone.

He was witness to a contract that ensured the woman he reportedly met last March as an escort and bought a $389,500 home with last December received 20 per cent of gross revenues from the sale of water filtration systems to native reserves.

If the federal government wants to close Canada’s productivity gap with the U.S., cutting corporate taxes and boosting business-sector research would be good places to start, business analysts and trade groups say.

http://www.thestar.com/business/markets/...ness-taxes?bn=1

corporate tax cuts only harm productivity, just look at the manufacturing sector in canada; those employers enjoyed health tax cuts, government bailouts on multiple occasions over the years and yet manufacturing jobs continue to evaporate.

“This is not collective bargaining,” Flaherty told CBC News.

http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/polit...y-election?bn=1

here's the pirates' cooperating with opposition parties to make parliament work. And should any readers need reminding there's a whole lot less collective bargaining in canada due to the many tax breaks granted to manufacturers over the years.
