Didn't we go through this drama once before???
"Join the knee-dips, they will end prohibition, they support our cause" ad nauseum...
Then they end up shunning the pro-pot candidates, blocking access to convention, and generally pissing all over Laytons pledge to commit to decrim.
Fool me once - shame on you..
Fool me twice - shame on me...
The knee-dips are just as much an old boys club as the other liars (I'm sorry, I meant political parties). There is no freakin' way they are going to upset the booze consuming majority of their supporters to acquiesce to a bunch of "stoners".
Dana will hit more walls in this pursuit than a drunk wobbling down a narrow alley. eNDProhibition is a pipe dream, and not reality.
No major, established political party will be of help to our cause (yes, ours, I have marched, fought, donated $ and effort, and tried to vote to help the cause). Either we do it ourselves, or we will waste years and $ trying to persuade others to do it for us...

Hey, I'm just Joe Average. No political wannabe.
I smoke, I buy, sometimes I grow.
I spend my $ at local businesses that are herb friendly - I was a card carrying, marching and money spending member of UpInSmoke in Hammertown.
All my friends and family know I smoke - I've been recognized for being on tv during protests, and never shy away from discussing my support of herb with anyone. My doctor and dentist are both aware, and I always tell health professionals I deal with.
I've sat w/ Marc, and the Brothers here in Hammertown, breaking bread and rolling bombers at outdoor restaurant tables. I've approached leo with burning joints in my hand to thank them for not cracking head during protests. I've also walked away from Marc when he's handed out joints to young teens, so I have limits to who and when herb should be shared with.
I buy local glass - local herb.
I spread the word, and the seed. Given hundreds of seeds and clones/plants to needy, or strangers, or friends.
I live w/ weed - it is part of my life. I am older than Dana, smoked longer, but prob not more than.
If everyone was OPEN about herb, they'd run out of places to incarcerate us, and eventually, if enough of US stood up, we could be accepted.
Prop 19 didn't rely on just dem or repub support - it was mj users (those wanting change anyway) that drove it. It failed, but betrayal was the key, not lack of support.
The knee-dips will NOT be the key here in Canada - that will become self evident once Dana gets all his ducks in a row. Vote for whom ever you wish, but plse stop trying to convince people that they will honour any "supposed" decrim or legalization initiative.
I hope you find what you are expecting - but I know this tact is not the way.
Re-visit this thread after the vote - be prepared to admit failure.

You're the typical cannabis user, exuberant and sentimental about his history of cannabis use and of his participation in activism events. However, none of your admissions, notions, sentiment or ideas will do anything to forward the legalization cause. This is just preaching to the converted. You're also likely the stereotypical cannabis user who doesn't vote for change and there's only one way to get cannabis legalized: vote for the party most likely to get it done. Sure the NDP will never win the Federal Election but they will continue to be the party of conscience, the people's party. Much of our civil liberty and social justice were formed, amended at the insistence of the NDP.
You want to see legal cannabis in your lifetime? join the NDP, join the eNDProhibition.
You have no strategy, support no initiative, just more of the same empty criticism.
So if joining a party and changing it from within is not the way, please tell us there's better way than another 30 years of passing joints, chanting at rallies. (the alternative is obvious: many cannabis celebrities have made measured successes in their challenges of legislation in the courts.) Empty criticism of those who lead the way and are committed to change our politics and legislation only perpetuates dissension, promotes division; does nothing to support unity and solidarity in the movement.
If there's any failure to admit: I did not do enough to educate other Canadians the value and power of their vote to evoke change but then again neither did you.

Same hollow rhetoric - join the knee-dips.
Kenny - Dana is doomed, the knee-dips don't give a rats ass about mj.
Nothing wrong with trying, it's the rah rah bullshit that's tiring.
I do, and have done, more than most - if it's not enough, I can live with that. Look at the impassioned discussion taking part here - the apathy is deafening.
Provincial politics cannot change fed law, as long as Herr Harper and his minions can buy elections by fellating big biz (read big booze, banks, etc.), and Iggys riding his coat-tails.
Knee-dips are also rans - never to get fed power, and as we saw in Ont., prepared to jettison the core supporters once a good look at the books kills their social/mothering instincts.
I AM NOT RUNNING FOR OFFICE - Dana is. His is the hollow promise, not mine. Don't hate because I tell you he's doomed, re-evaluate the strategy because I'm right.
Trojan horse all you want - no matter how many supporters and votes he gets, the knee-dips will hurt themslves in the rush to stifle your message.
Happened before - will happen again.
Fact - not fiction. Spin it any way you want. We will see you back here next year - and I wager you won't admit the hemporer had no chance even then.
Bonne Chance - but at least be a man and admit defeat (once defeat has happened).

Your real name is kenny_canuck???
Damn - you musta got teased bad as a kid...
My comments about Marc are true - and honest. Have you seen the shit that folks here write about him? Mine were mild.
I have no need to offer Dana anything after criticizing his doomed platform and effort. I owe nothing to you or anyone, I have the common sense to know bullshit and failure when I smell it, and refuse to drink the koolaid. Rail all you want, but your argument is fundamentally flawed, and it's not MY fault.
I know that Dana can't take flight - he has no wings, no means to achieve liftoff on his own, or without aid. Does that mean my acknowledgement of his inability makes me liable to propose how he may fly???
Do you even read what you type, or is this some "automatic" writing that takes place as an out of body experience?
Dana has neither the means or the support to accomplish his goal. He has tried before, and been rejected fully and completely. It will make no difference what colour you tell people his clothes are - he is NAKED, and no amount of piss and vinegar will change that.
Enjoy your ride, kc - I hope your enthusiasm carries further than your myopic insights would indicate.
And really - meh? Please.

"I'm NOT running for office - I'm just bright enough to know why his efforts (and apparently yours) are doomed."
Well, if nothing else, this illustrates the problem with electoral politics. Are you suggesting he's equitably doomed or that he is doomed because the electorate is full of retards who will judge a man by an ancient video where he purports to be dosing and driving?
I mean, if Dana renounced the automobile, would that change this, or is this simple prejudice against psychedelic users, current or former?
"Dana is not a leader of my cannabis community - he is a failed political candidate and ex editor of a cannabis magazine."
I don't know about this cannabis community---I've always had problems with the robbery of any drug or vegetable. Hi, and thanks for posting... He is going to lose because a party of straights have no interest in promoting his platform, the driving vids have just served to horrify SOME of the potential voters, the rest just could not care less about mj or mmj. Not sure what your last part means. Thanks again...

Once Dana is rebuffed for the leadership, the party faithful will again close ranks and repel any further attempts to bring your initiative to the forefront.
Then what?
This is not rocket science - those that fail to learn from history, are doomed to repeat it.
And;
Insanity is doing the same thing over and over, and expecting a different result.
Get the kleenex ready - I assure you that there is zero chance Dana will win, and 100% chance he (and you) are wasting your (and our) time...
And there is NO chance that once Dana has been defeated, the knee-dips will officially pursue decrim or better.
But, we'll see - won't we? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... Well??? No win, huh? Kenny??? Anyone???

http://cannabisculture.com/v2/node/28493Hudak-Horwath Alliance? PC-NDP Productive Partnership? by Chris Goodwin - Tuesday, September 27 2011 Tags: Chris Goodwin NDP Ontario politics Progressive Conservatives PC - Tim Hudak - Establish a provincial registry of marijuana grow operations. The plan would enhance current legislation aimed at eliminating grow-ops and meth labs... At the start of this campaign, the Ontario NDP and Liberal platforms did not make any specific promises with regard to drug crime initiatives. When the first media reports came out a month ago, Tim Hudak and the Progressive Conservatives received scathing replies from some notable Cannabis Culture contributors. Med Pot Marc asked on Treating Yourself "Does Hudak also want a registry for other house owners with any type of criminal record? It's like saying..'hey, don't buy this house because it used to be owned by a bank robber, a murderer, a women abuser, a pedophile, etc'.." http://treatingyourself.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=46714Matt Mernagh wrote an article on Cannabis Culture "Marijuana Grower Invites Tim Hudak To Visit His Grow-Op" adding "Will they buy into Hudak’s grow-a-ganda?" http://www.cannabisculture.com/v2/node/28204Nicole Seguin from eNDProhibtion submitted in response to the Grow-Op registry that "It is beyond hypocritical of Tim Hudak to admit he has used marijuana... Mr. Hudak was fortunate to avoid police and court action for his behavior; others deserve not to have their lives destroyed either. http://endprohibition.ca/group/endprohibition/ontario-tory-leader-admits...NDP Leader Andrea Horwath’s staff replied to an email asking if she has smoked pot with a terse “yes” but declined to provide further details. And then, in the Toronto Sun, NDP leader Andrea Horwath is on the record saying she is "open to Tory coalition", adding that their campaign and platforms are similar. Hudak-Horwath Alliance? PC-NDP productive partnership? Hudak Helper, Just add Horwath And then, the next day in Northern Ontario, a Progressive Conservative call for a registry on houses used for grow-ops or meth labs got a nod of approval from the NDP. NDP Candidate Steve Mantis Thunder Bay-Superior North said in support of the PC Grow-Op proposal "it could be expanded to include all existing problems with the home...." And just look at the quote from the Mantis throwing more fuel on the Grow-Op Meth-Lab Registry. Another Boondoggle, like the long gun registry, the NDP wants all existing problems with your home to be in the PC registry, all available online to the public. Do you have too many cars in the driveway or on the road, got a broken step or building a deck without a permit, is your shed the right size, pool or fence problems, dog complaints, are you up to date on your property taxes, talk about a neighbor against neighbor, rat out registry... Med Pot Marc seems to agree "Such registry makes it look like the former house owner has a criminal record.." However, Matt Mernagh spent at least a half hour trying to argue that an PC-NDP minority is doable. Now, no matter what the NDP does, it seems cannabis activists will continue to support this socialist party. NDP likes more building projects and job creation, and the pc's will give them new prisons and workers. Great strategy to keep power. NDP will be the TORY kingmakers, just like the federal NDP sided with Harper and voted for Drug Driving Legislation. Horwath will partner with Hudak for Grow Op registry and Prison Boom employment... Its a perfect marriage, PC~NDP, more workers in Ontario, but it will be Chain Gangs and Prison Guards, Drug Dealers and Vice Cops... The facts, like the history of NDP coalitions with PC neo cons, propping up their agenda, and voting for it. For instance, we have new Criminal Code offenses and far more police powers thanks to the federal NDP CON alliance, Drug Driving, Possession while operating a motor vehicle, etc. Bill C-32 (drug-impaired-driving bill) was combined with other crime-related bills into one "omnibus" bill (Bill C-2) that was passed and given "royal assent" in 2008. http://www.cannabisfacts.ca/druggeddriving.htmlThat's what the NDP-CON coalition gave us working together in drug reform to prop up Tory governments. With Tim Hudak name dropping Rob Nicholson everyday, two Niagara buddies, Hudak to wants to repeat Bill C-10 in Ontario, his Grow Op Registry is just the beginning. Our enemies are promising it, and our former allies are making statements that they will join them in a coalition, and history shows they'll do it. Don't believe me, you might be surprised to learn Horwath and Hudak have voted together 183 times in the legislature. From my experience watching, these bed fellows are absolutely working together. You can look at the summary at www.thevotingrecord.caA vote for Horwath is a vote for Hudak. A vote for Horwath is a vote for Hudak. This support, would allow Hudak’s PCs and Horwath's NDP to take the province down the wrong track. I believe in coalitions, but they talk about needing more bipartisanship, and I say we have too much compromise which really just endorses big government corporatism. I am still a little shocked that no one in the Cannabis Culture, and I mean no one, has come out against Andrea Horwath and the NDP. Before any of this NDP-PC garbage started, Marc Emery wrote "I am very impressed with Federal Liberal leader Bob Rae's complete denunciation of the war on drugs as a complete failure..." As if the NDP back stab wasn't enough, the Grow-op registry gets a nod from the Liberals too. http://thegiantnews.blogspot.com/2011/09/grow-op-registry-get-nod-from-a...Liberal incumbent Michael Gravelle recently said the Liberal plan is aimed at eliminating grow-ops and meth labs and extend the hours of the busiest drug Courts in Ontario.. Ontario PC Leader Tim Hudak said “The McGuinty Liberals have refused to create a public registry of meth labs and grow ops. The only people who seem to be opposed to a grow op and meth lab registry are Dalton McGuinty and the criminals who run the grow ops. Unlike Dalton McGuinty, Tim Hudak will not help criminals hide their actions. If a criminal has used a home as a grow op Tim Hudak will ensure families know about it before they put the health and safety of their children at risk." In a strange twist of irony, Matt Hudson posted on Facebook that "Dalton McGuinty wants me to like him. I wish there was a dislike button!" When Davin Christensen replied "Would you prefer Tim Hudak? I'd be clicking a strategic "Like" on McGuinty..." Matt Hudson concluded "no I'll probably vote Horwath she wants to eliminate hst from diesel and gas." When I posted the NDP position on the Grow-Op registry, I got no reply. It's as if everyone is blind to the obvious, a vote for Horwath is a vote for Hudak. So, what can one do? Above all, do not maintain support of those proclaiming some vaguely generalized, undefined and, usually, contradictory political goals, in order to do something. It means that you help the victory of your enemies and the defeat of your ideas. To support such superficial political action is bound to fail. Erin Ashley Gorman asked Matt Mernagh to "get your NDP Candidate for Davenport Jonah Schein to post a statement that he will not support Horwath's coalition with Hudak on the Grow Op & Meth Lab Registry..." finishing "...Show Chris that fact, or the proof of his argument will be in your candidates omission on this topic." Matt Mernagh acts like a WWE style manager, asking Tim Hudak to come to his Legal Grow Op. Now that Horwath turned Heel, maybe Mernagh will do another livestream video. Hudak Helper, Just add Horwath http://www.digitaljournal.com/img/1/8/1/6/4/9/i/9/5/6/p-medium/P9240040....Christopher Goodwin is Freedom Party's candidate in the riding of Toronto Centre. Studied law at Mohawk College, and political science at McMaster University. Chris lives in the riding of Toronto Centre, where he manages the popular downtown lounge Vapor Central. Check out one of our 18 planks; Safe, Convenient Access: Cannabis Medicine Centres http://www.freedomparty.on.ca/cannabis/cannabis.htmhttp://www.freedomparty.on.caThere are Freedom Party candidates running in more than enough ridings across Ontario to form the government. Simply placing an X in the circle next to your Freedom Party candidate's name on the ballot is the most effective way of taking charge and putting an end to this Grow-Op Registry.
