Cool set up Oldtree, I have no pics but I use strepsill tins and have them in my old cigar humidor. I have a couple of silica bags for moisture absorbstion. My oldest strain is an orignal Skunk from almost 15 years ago. I will be trying to germ. next.

So, to reiterate my earlier question, does anyone freeze their beans ? To my way of thinking, the freezer is 'safer' than a fridge as there should be less moisture at -20...comments ?

Nice job. The storage is a wise choice.

As long as room temperature is normal you can store them in any room. When I asked a seed bank about chilling the seeds, their reply was it makes no difference. Generally seed banks keep seeds in a safe, not a fridge. I keep them in the package until I need to germinate them.

Peace

The most important environmental parameter for storing seeds would be humidity: keep it dry as possible. As with all living things (well, almost all) lowering the temp slows down metabolic activity - so you see my point about freezing my beans. I'd still like to hear from anyone who is or has done this.

hey doobie, freezers work great,as long as they are not frost free but a deep freeze freezer.also frozen seeds are a little fragile and should not be shaken as you may crack them.frost free freezers, the temps go up and down which is hard on the seeds.

I'm not sure if it's earlier in this thread, or somewhere else, but as wohlandr said, freezing is a safe option; can't say I know what he's talking about when it comes to freezers, though repeated freeze/thaw cycles will degrade your seeds.

I've never froze mine, just always had them in the fridge. Some of my seeds are over 20 yrs old and still viable.
